Title: The curse of the XArmor U9BL-S
Post by: BucklingSpring on Fri, 16 November 2012, 20:24:26
Not so long ago, I gave the XArmor to someone I hate.

The keyboard just returned to sender. He told me the crap I gave him isn't working.

Dude it was working when I gave it to you but I'm not surprised anyway... It's a XArmor after all.

I took the keyboard back, plugged it in and guess what? The stupid thing worked!
I once more offered the board to my enemy. He declined it.

I'm cursed.

Use it to practice mechanical skills by taking it apart as far as you can (including desoldering and disassembling all the switches) and then putting it back together. Repeat until you mess up and it dies.

^^it is actually not a bad idea.

I don't think it will take me long to wreck it for good but I least it will give the opportunity to gut a board.

I never did more than taking the covers and keycaps off.

Yeah, I know. shame on me :-)

I second this. Change the keyswitches, put some leds in there, mod it as much as you can and if it does actually dies, try to ressurect it and if that doesn't works, scrap all keyswitches and bury the damn thing.

RoFL

"put some leds in there" - It is already a full backlit board.

I mean this thing has all the bells and whistles. This is why I paid so much for that hoe in the first place.

I wonder if I could turn it into a zombie keybaord. I think it has potential for an horror movie plot.

Sorry, I meant, change the LED colors. Put other leds in there.
