Title: Black Friday Sale - Buy Logitech G9X or Not ($40)
Post by: Hyde on Fri, 23 November 2012, 01:09:38
So I just saw G9X Call of Duty edition on sale at NCIX.  I mean I kinda don't like the gaming logo but $40 is very very tempting.

But I start seeing stores either stop carrying G9X or low stock, also on Logitech website the G9X is the only one on sale.  To me it feels like they're preparing for new model by getting rid of old model first.  Does anyone know?

Should I still go for this sale or wait for the potential new model release?

Seems they are having trouble selling the ugliest mouse I've ever seen!  Serves them right, I hope they have to mark them down to $10 to get rid of them!

Was thinking the same thing, want that mouse, but dislike CoD very much. If you don't mind it, I'd say go for it. Even if new stock came out, I'm sure you could sell the mouse for what you pay at that deal if you don't overuse it by the time new stuff comes out.

Xoxide says it's discontinued.

But I wouldn't let that stop me from buying it. I haven't tried it, but it's supposed to be a great mouse. And $40 is a steal. The new one will probably be $100.

I've seen g9x at $40 in the past, and the original g9 in the $20 range. $40 is a good price for these mice.

I would jump on it for $40. Bought mine @ $50 in early October.

Damn the limited quantity special sold out in one night, today I see it at $50 instead of $40 now.

At $50 it feels less tempting especially since I have to put up with the Modern Warfare logo  :(

This was my initial reaction to the mouse; at first I thought it was hideous, but every time I saw it I started liking it more and more. Then I bought one and it is probably the best mouse I've ever had.
Although the Modern Warfare branding is damn ugly.

Most keyboards people have in here would be considered ****ing ugly by gamers, especially your KBCs. Do you think we care? HELL NO!

Anyways, the G9x is an awesome mouse for Claw and Fingertip grips. Not really recommended for Palm, but it's awesome nonetheless.

Yeah it's precisely why I wanted to try one.  I've tried CM Storm Xornet it's amazing for claw grip though I find I'm still more used to laser sensor's fine DPI adjustment.

Sorta why I went back to using Naga, it's actually small enough that you can claw grip comfortably, also the back end rounded off and doesn't points down which is good for claw (Unlike Deathadder's butt).

I guess my biggest dilemma now is that if I should wait for the new version to come out or get G9X for $50 and put up with that ugly logo.  Leaning on waiting... lol

Unless the next version sucks then price of G9X will probably shot up like Razer Diamondback and Razer Copperhead.

I've found the solution to this problem is to only think about the present.  What will satisfy your needs and wants right now?  Something better will always come out in weeks, months or years, with features you didn't even know you needed or wanted.  The best thing is to just get a good deal on a product that serves its purpose well and has the features you need.

Is it still possible to get the extra shell that made palm grip possible? If so, I wouldn't think twice, but the default shells suck IMHO ("comfort" feels greasy to me, "precision" is fine except the edge between mouse body and shell itself).

Here is my opinion, post is not meant to bash on a fellow Geek.

If you're looking at your mouse you're doing it wrong. Then again, I haven't exactly been called OCD. If branding matters to you, you can just pony up the extra cash, or DIY with a can of flat black krylon. Might be obvious, but needs to be said.

Changing your mindset in this case is the best choice. Because you were hesitant on branding, you missed out on a good deal. Had you copped, that $10 you saved could have net you three key caps from Keypop.net, since they were going for $2.75 shipped if you got four.

lol it's ok now that I think about it I never would've made it.  It was $40 on Thursday night when I checked, at that time I can only order it online which would probably cost me around $8 for shipping anyway.  On Friday it's listed at $50 and I guess I could've went to the store and save on shipping.  So either way it's probably gonna be around $50 for me on both days.

I think I'll just wait for next version.  I already have 2 mice that I'm fairly happy with I think I'm only eyeing G9X because I heard so many great things about it and also at $40 it feels like a great deal but at $50 it's sorta ok.

So I don't really "need" another mouse I guess I'm only eyeing it because like most geekhackers we like to spoil ourselves.  At least this way I get an excuse to not spend money until Logitech makes G900  :P
