Title: 3d printed alps keys
Post by: __red__ on Sat, 24 November 2012, 11:29:57
For my instrument.
30s on the datasheet, 10m in cad, 2m on the printer...

30s on the datasheet meaning the time you needed to read the dimensions before starting CAD?

Also what 3d printer are you using?  I keep resisting buying one but started looking at the $ i spend on prototypes and got to wondering if i should make the leap.

Does that shape actually fit on a board with multiple keys?

Can you do cupped caps?  To fit a 1008XM?

Shut up and take my money!

Yes, reading the dimensions of the socket for the cap.

I built a Mendelmax, in fact, I built the first in the world because the guy who designed it published the plans then went on vacation.  I built it before he got back :-)

I recommend building your own if you like to tinker.  If you want something that works every time then i was pretty impressed with 3D systems cube.

Couple of hundredths of a millimeter on the z axis, I would guess less than a tenth of a millimeter in x and y.
