Title: loose stabilizers
Post by: gameaholic on Wed, 28 November 2012, 19:50:45
I got some new RGB modifiers today and the cross shaped stabilizers that go into them are pretty loose.  I managed to get them in and working fine but I was just wondering if there is some sort of trick to getting them to stay put short of gluing them in.

I've had good luck with putting a small piece of tape on the stems before inserting them into stemholes(?)

Cutting out small squares of plastic from a plastic bag or something can also work, similar to using tape, as it makes it a tighter fit.

I have also found that the stabiliser clips from WASDKeyboards fit much better in SP keycaps than stock ones on my Filco and QFR.

I used the plastic bag trick - worked well.  You only need about a 1cm square bit of plastic, place it over the base of the stem, then push the stabilised in thru the plastic.  The plastic folds itself around the stabiliser and makes for a tighter fit.

Loose stabilizers are a pretty common problem, especially for SP keys. Everyone already suggested it, wrap tape or paper around the white inserts and they'll be more snug.
