Ducky G2 PRO DK9008 is a full board using Cherry MX Greys.

Greys are to Browns as Greens are to Blues; new hype?
-
Light grey or dark grey? I assume light grey if you're saying they are tactile like browns.
-
Yes, light greys. I'm incredibly interested to type on one of these..
-
Hmm interesting, I'd like to see how they compare to browns.
-
Man... and I just got done dumping my money into greens... I've always wanted Clears but now that this is coming... ****... I'm literally going to be broke... Going to hope these aren't limited edition so I can buy them later next year when I have money.

My guess is they'll be another special edition around $140. I too just bought two mechanical keyboards back-to-back so dumping another benny+ on a keyboard is a bit out of the question. And I think my clicky Green are a solid choice for now. ;D
Still, glad Ducky is playing around with MX switches. They also had Blue/Green and Brown/White keyboards, but I don't think those were ever released on a large scale. If Ducky continues to be successful in promoting its creations they might have the leverage to push for Cherry Ergo Clears.

Yeh... I'm with you there, dood. I'll just hope that this is still available early next year... I'll definitely save up money for it. I personally don't think I'll like the Ergo Clears as much as I'll like standard Clears or these Light Greys (prefer stiff switches except for Reds which are amazing). I also don't think it'll ever be manufactured because of the sticking issues Ergo Clears has but that's only something I read :P
I saw the ergonomic keyboards they had which mixed blues/greens and browns/whites but I think the inconsistency on those boards would drive me crazy. I agree with you on their experimenting though. Great to see that someone is willing to try new things while still providing quality.
-
are these the same switches commonly found under the space bar on cherry keyboards? also, is it the only keyboard with gray switches?
i thought the single gray switch i tried had really nice resistance and a pronounced bump to it, so i'll probably have to pick one of these up if it's the only game in town.
-
Greys are not commonly used on anything. They were developed alongside browns to be used as a space bar switch, but I can't name a single board that uses one as such. And yes, this is the only board I've ever seen that is entirely greys.
-
sounds pretty nice. i haven't really looked into purchasing any ducky boards before, what's the best way to come by one of these?

Mech keyboards usually stock every ducky possible, including the limited edition green one. Hope they get these, because I'm def getting one.
-
This is nice :) and by limited edition how many are actually produced?
-
Nice and simple build.
-
Does anyone know where I can read up on the comparison between Cherry MX Grey and Clear? I've seen the deskthority wiki pages on each switch but I don't understand how Greys have a higher actuation point than the Clears. Is the stem different? Different springs? I'm assuming the stem but deskthority wiki says that the Clears a larger bump than brown which results in having the most friction... so what about the Greys then...

My DKSaver has the grey swtich for the spacebar, it's really stiff. Much stiffer than black switch, IMO.
I can't imagine how it feels with a full set of grey switch to type on.

Thanks for reply! Unfortunately, you're talking about dark grey which is a linear switch (I've felt those on the Ducky's, and yes, they're very stiff). The switch we're talking about on here is the tactile grey switch :P

any news about this kboard?
-
i would probably enjoy grey switches if they are lubed. not sure though. not sure enough to buy a whole keyboard of them without trying them first.

Let me know if you find a way to trying these out before buying. Lol, because I'd be very interested. I'd like to also know how these differ to Clears.

I think Ducky decided to do a full series of these boards with their new thick PBT dyesubbed keycaps. So, this Grey board probably got delayed until Ducky is ready to release the full lineup: Greys, Greens, Clears, Whites (?), and the standard Blue/Black/Red/Browns.
-
A month since the last person asked.. ;D
Any news on this board?

It would be funny if these went over well and Ducky petitioned Cherry to bring back the Super Black switches.

Interesting... I guess the increased interest in mechanical keyboards has resulted in Cherry's expansion on different switches.

I don't know but they should definitely thank Starcraft 2. Lol!

Another reason why Ducky is my favorite retail mech manufacturer. They listen to the community then drop all kinds of sought out stuff. Backlit friendly PBTs, thick PBTs, multi switch limited edition and now this.
However, aren't some grays actually clears? I forget where I read this, but it was something about grays from Korea not being like regular grays. I cant be totally off here.

Not too sure but I believe Ducky also will be releasing Clears too so I don't know why they would have Light Greys and Clears if they were the same thing. Hopefully more information will be released soon so all the confusion can be "clear"ed up... Lol, sorry, I had to.

Put a black spring with a brown stem, also note that the bump on a grey is a little bit more pronounced.

Little more pronounced compared to browns or clears? I'm assuming browns, so my question still stands, how's it different compared to clears because clears are obviously a more pronounced and more stiff than brown. And if you meant more pronounced than clears, than your black spring+brown stem wouldn't make sense because clears are more pronounced than browns. I must know!
What I want to know is if there's a difference in the springs or stems between clears and greys, or both?

Bah, I probably just read something wrong.
Nice pun though lol

I only know by the construction of the switch and what I already know, you could try comparing a clear stem to a grey stem to get your answer to that question.

I just realized my comment might have come off as critical!! Sorry if it came off that way. I was just analyzing the situation at hand. I tend to forget certain things when I'm in deep thought :P Thank you for the information though. Just been so curious for so long with no answers ahahaha.

Greys are not to Browns as Greens are to Blues, but Greys are to Clears what Greens are to Blues. Something like that!
On pretty much all Cherry boards with Clears you should find a Grey beneath the spacebar.
However, the only difference between Grey and Clear stems seems to be the colour. I've tried Greys with springs from Clears and korean 65g springs, and they feel the same as Clears with the same spring. The tactile slide thing looked exactly the same if I recall correctly.
I'd only recommend a keyboard with only Greys to people with really manly hands. I tried using Greys everywhere on my Phantom for a while, and boy, that was heavy. I think Clears are a bit too heavy though, so it wasn't that surprising. If you've used Clears and thought "man, these are for girls", then a Grey keyboard is probably the way to go. Others should be warned though. :>
By the way, a spring from a black switch is a lot lighter than one from a grey switch, and the construction of Browns isn't a lot like the one of Greys or Clears, so that wouldn't make a good "try before you buy".
Nah, I'll wait for Ducky G2 PRO DK9008 w/ MX Super Black.

Thank you for that! You just confirmed what I assumed, which is that greys are just a stiffer clear! I think I'll probably just go with the clear switch. My fingers don't look like this:

which would be required for greys and super blacks :P Dem manly fangerz
