Title: Just out of curiosity, any Canadians here?
Post by: Hyde on Sat, 01 December 2012, 13:23:53
It's just that I see a lot of US meet ups.  Wondering if there's enough Canadians for a Canada meet up or something similar LOL.

Otherwise I'll just have to drive 8 hours to Chicago or New York  :(

There are two of us in northern Ontario that I know of. Lets meet up in the middle to make everyone travel! I vote, eastern Saskatchewan.

That's like halfway across Canada though, in contrast I think it's actually closer to go to Chicago or New York LOL.  Damn it why does Canada has to be so big  >__<

Just outside of Edmonton :)
I live within Edmonton proper.

For purposes of comparison, think of Vancouver as San Francisco, Edmonton as Austin, Toronto as Buffalo, Oshawa as Detroit, Sudbury as Pittsburgh, Montreal as New York, and St. John's as Boston.

I spent quite a bit of time in Toronto and Montreal after I graduated.  Love Canada - no sarcasm.  I would be willing to make the trip up, if I get enough forward notice to take time off work

Try living in Australia, you have to accentuate the 'ow' in 'about' hard. Felt goddam ridiculous!

Okay... where do you guys wanna meet up in Toronto? Crucial things are obviously where and when. We've got the who, what, why, and how figured out.

Toronto, Ontario. Any venue/location you guys have in mind? Restaurant? I'm underage so keep that in mind please...

When? A little bit after New Years sounds good.

lol you're underage and you started looking into mechanical keyboards already?  Man kids are so balling these days  :P

LOL I love sushi but should we pick somewhere with quite a bit of space in case people bring their keyboards?  As for time I'm open to either January or spring.

Though I'll have nothing fancy to show until I get my thick PBT from Lysol's group buy which is estimated early January  :(

Oh and Chaumeow will also come along so there would be at least some girls there.  I know they're a rare breed in keyboard world LOL.

Quite a few well educated youngins on here it seems!

Oh boy, girls! I better look my best :)

Yea somewhere spacious would be good. Somewhere to eat, then hang out for hours. Also where it's licensed so us older folk who love the poison can enjoy ourselves.

Yeah at the moment I like the renting a loft idea.  That way we have the space and more freedom on time also.  Then just bring food or drink there or something.

Another idea that came across me is that I found out Matias is located at Newmarket (30 min north from Toronto).  I wonder if we can arrange some kind of tour there, I'll probably try to message a Matias rep and let you guys know.  Unless travel is a problem then we'll just do it in Toronto.

That would be cool! Would love a tour, had no idea they were located in Ontario!

I would have offered to take folks, was recently driving a suburban....until the transmission went. Then I downgraded to a mini cooper....went from 7 passengers to 2(or 3 very uncomfortable).

I know they are somewhere in GTA but never thought of visiting their site.  Just google-mapped it and it seems located in a residential area and probably 30 mins drive from my place.

It sounds like they're operating in the basement of someone's house last time I asked them if I can swing by to buy something locally.  So I'm not sure if they'll allow a tour but I've sent them a message and I'll see what they say.  But I'll let you guys know.

But would be cool if we can swing by and pick up some Quiet Pro lol.  They say the Tactile Pro will not be in stock until January.  So if any of you guys are interested in the Tactile Pro then we should probably plan the trip in late January after they get it in stock.

Should we start a new thread for Toronto Meetup?  Who wants to coordinate this?  :P

Oh and before we go anywhere do we have a consensus on time?  Everyone prefer January or "sometime in spring"?

Also weekend/weekdays?  I guess weekend is probably better for people who have work?

I'm pretty flexible for time, although I think weekend would be best for everyone. I think we need a meetup thread and a poll.

I'm quite experienced in a ton of stuff, don't worry, I grew up too early lol. Will keep up with the thread for dates and location, no suggestions here though. If sushi prepare to shut down that restaurant.

Time/date doesn't matter for me, I'm out of school and work my own hours. January sounds fine...
