Quick summary of what I am looking for, My welcome topic was related about where I was living and what I was looking for a mechanical keyboard. I am living in turkey and I have very limited product index.
3 gamer brand steelseries zowie and razor. I got a blackwidow expert cheap one for my 1st mechanical keyboard. Loved it Blueswitch noisy but funny. Now one of my friend coming from US, means I have opportunity to order Filco, Leopold, and Coolermaster.
Cant decide what should be my next switch. Red or Brown I am closer to Brown. because Blue switch sensivity is already good for me.
and brand of that 3.
Filco expensive of 3 but well I read a lot about it. Leopold middle price range, seems good to me. CM cheap but looks solid.
Cant decide which one. I dont have any chance for near future to get one of them without double shipping fee. Its like extra 70 dollar to ship Turkey now I get them without shipping cost.
Sorry to bother with same questions again again and again. But keyboards are fun so reading about them and writing with them.

CM QuickFire Rapid with MX reds.
MX browns are often dissapointing for those used to blues, reds will give you a taste of linear switches. Or blacks, if you prefer something with stuiffer springs.
-
Ive ordered qfr blacks but after blues I am not sure about sensivity, people saying Its very stiff and hard to write with blacks, I was very good with blue but you have to release key to press again in blues that was not good for games I played.
Is that really that hard to press ? I go back to using my old g15 after selling blackwidow, And I am not even playing games until my qfr arrives
blue switches was fun but not good for games or I coudnt get used to it.
Now blacks will be too stiff. I read something about blacks gets better after 2 weeks of use.
Ill order reds for next time leopold reds next month.

Sounds like a solid choice. You don't plan to customize right? Leopolds are known to have oddly designed spacebars that are NOT compatible with the recent Cherry MX 7x spacebars as their stabilizers are set differently. In all honesty, if I had the money, I would spring for a Filco, just because of the quality of the keys and the board overall compared to the Leopold, but I think Leopold does have the better bang for the buck. Either way, you won't be disappointed. Stay away from Razer, especially for keyboards, at all costs. Any other user on GH would be able to tell you the same thing.
I think especially if you game, go for Reds. People like browns as a hybrid for typing and gaming because for typing a lot of people prefer the tactile feedback (hence why Blues are so popular with typists). However, if you can handle the lightness, Reds are an absolute pleasure to type on. I have typed 2500 word essays in a night or two with very minor fatigue if at all. I like the linear, smooth feel, and for double tapping it is much more ideal. Browns tend to get "sticky" after some time, or get looser. I've heard the tactility and stuff change, since the bump does get worn albeit very slightly.
I own a Red keyboard and I game all the time and I love it. Double tapping is no problem whatsoever, FPS games are much easier to play, and yeah it works well. I just personally don't like browns, but again, its user based. Good luck :)

Filco yes good kboard but I need to check my options 1st, Ive already decide to pay huge shipping cost like 30-50 $, and unplanned custom fee, But after returning to membrane from mechanical I saw that mechanical is something else and Its a must have for computer people, who spend more than 5 hrs in a day.
Blacks will be stiff, I know but after membrane Its going to be ok, Ive sold my razer blackwidow. no more razer for me that synapse software works like charm *insert sarcasm here*.
Ive planned my budget for kboards Ill buy two more board red switch and another blue for work (maybe something less noisy).
I cant customize boards yet If I find a good reseller for key caps with low shipping fee I can buy caps too but need to get used to switches 1st. blue now black and red after. will find best one for me soon.

good. reds won't disappoint you. also you may want to order o-rings to mod reds to dampen them when bottoming out.
for something less noisy than blues i'd suggest ergo clears. you buy cherry clear pcb mounted 'board and then change springs with those from brown / red / blue switches (they are all the same).

@StoneJoint
u can get what you want. But I recommend anything with Red switches.
You could get a CM QFR or a Rosewill. The reason I mention Rosewill is that they are on sale cheap sometimes. They had blues on sale for $40.00 on National Capitalism Day iirc. And they had Reds on sale for a whole week I think for $70.00 (that is when I bought mine).
The thing about the Rosewill is it has all standard keys. No screwey wierdo keys like Cherry or Leopold.
The only thing screwey about Rosewills is the USB Cable and the PS/2 Cable. But u can replace that cheaply if desired.
Anyway maybe your friend can find u a good deal. CM QFR or Rosewill or whatever.

Ill definitly have a red switch, but I hope blacks wont dissapoint me, I see blues need 50g to actuate and blacks need 60g. I dont see that much difference why people say blacks is only for gaming typing is not good with them.
-
I like blacks, but they are a bit of a contrast from blues if you are not expecting it.
I have fairly strong fingers, so I don't mind the stiffer springs.
-
If you compare black to membrane how can you rate stiffness 1 to 10 1 means Its close to membrane 10 Its faar from membrane :) Somehow I need to imagine its stiffnes actually Ive already bought it and it will be in my inventory but anyways.
-
You can't compare Cherry Black or Red to membrane because the force curve is totally different.
After my C64, I grew up on Cherry Black. It never bothered me at the time. It gave me big strong manly hands. :))
But seriously I had the strongest hands of anyone I ever knew.
-
well I see you need muscle to press black switches hmm  I have impressive finger muscles but after blues I really cant type I just used blackwidow for 2 weeks and all my keyboard habbits changed :(.
-
Razer = Evil. Perform an Exorcism at once.
-
Well Ive already sold it, I dont know why but reading all the hates about it made me hater too. :) I kinda like it actually. but software was crap.
next week my zowie am-gs and qfr black and asus xonar dgx will arrive my body is ready.
-
Blacks do not compare to membrane. Membrane feels like typing on a sponge after using blacks.
If you like MX blues, try an alternative keybaord with blues (different to the BWU, that is). A few people have reported that the difference is very noticable (with the BWU usually being the less pleasant keyboard to type on).

That was the description I was looking for thx.
-
Go with a 200r Leopold Get the Korean Legend on the Brown switches best keyboard ever, you could also get a Skydigital Nkeyboard they are nice too
-
Or a Leopold 700r...PBT keys..a bit less ping...

I have never met any membrane keyboard that feels in any way, shape, form or fashion, even slightly a little teensy bit like typing on a sponge.
I would love to type on a sponge. Sign me up!
I am currently planning on spending thousands of dollars to try to make a keyboard that is "like typing on a sponge" or as close to it as I can achieve with off-the-shelf technology.
In fact I think I shall glue sponges on top of all my keys of my Cherry Reds to see what that does for me.
How can I cut sponges into perfect squares?
-
Just line up a bunch of keycaps on an average kitchen spongs and try to type. Much cheaper, and about as effective.
-
Ok I got my qfr blacks they are very nice. They are not that stiff as I expect. But not light as I want. I can use them sound is very good for my office. Now for my next order: Its going to be RED. Linear is good for me sound is ok also.
Now I need to choose my next kboard brand : In my mind 2 options again QFR : red or Leopold red, Filco is not an option due to high price range I rather order keycaps instead of filco and customize my board a little.
Conc: I have QFR black loved it , shape feeling everything especially dimensions Its adorable :p, Looking for RED switch but I have already QFR so I can get one more QFR or Leopold Reds with same price range.
and Ill get some keycaps from wasd keyboard for both my keyboards.
Which one do you suggest : QFR red or Leopold RED ?
-
The only thing with Leopold is that they have a non-standard spacebar, and although it is not the show-stopper it used to be when it comes to swapping keycaps, you cannot put any old spacebar on to it.
-
I think I am going to order one more qfr with reds and white keycap .
-
Hey StoneJoint, I ended up getting a 2nd Rosewill Red because they were on sale for $55.00 and free shipping. and I got a CM QFR Red for around $90.00+$10.00 shipping = $100.00 and hired a guy to rip the QFR apart and install a proper plate inside so that way I can lube my springs when I want or change out the springs when I want. It cost double the Rosewill but will be my super duper customizeable keyboard.
