Hi all,
Rather new on these forums (been lurking mostly since August) and I'd thought I'd somehow contribute.
I did a search on this a few weeks ago on here but couldn't find an existing thread on it already (but if there was then I apologise)
So here goes, I'm sure most of you have thought about this at some stage (Vellum paper KB roof aka cheap ghetto style). I had made one a while ago for my RF87U at work to cover from all the dust (and the Ajax the cleaners spray all over my desk) to keep it cleaner.
Myself, like some, don't reside in the US so buying an acrylic roof from EK would cost me alot to ship. So I used some vellum paper (had readily available at work) and make a roof from it.
I've just made one for my Pure this morning and it fits very well.
Here are my dimensions.
Using A4 Vellum (held up in landscape)
1. Trim 11mm off the left or right edge
2. Working from top edge, make a horizontal bend 23mm from the top edge
3. Make another horizontal bend 90mm below the previous bend
4. Another horizontal bend 25mm beneath the bend in step 3.
5. Horizontally cut the paper 22mm below the bend in step 4.
6. Done/Enjoy
Tips:
a. There is a single layer for the top of the KB due to the narrow clearance
b. I used a dual layer for the bottom of the KB as there is more clearance and so it fits tight (this ensures that if you hold the KB upside-down it will stay like it would right side up)
c. It doesn't matter how many times you bend the vellum it won't snap
d. Try making the bends with the edge of a desk/table so its as straight as it can be

Well hope this helps some of you guys keep your KBs cleaner when in storage or when not using it.
Will try and post pics but I'm sure you can imagine what it looks like rather easily.

Put up some pics.
For an A4 sheet of vellum you can only get 60% boards, my RF87U needed an extra patch so it didn't look at cool as the Pure did.

The photos of your cover look to be done in some sort of acrylic, at a substantial thickness.
I would imagine that any paper product would have to be at least 40# to stand up. What other materials did you try?

I made a paper mock up first to get some test dimensions going, then did some small refinements here and there.
The vellum used was just the same sort of 'cover paper' you would see on binded books. Its not as solid as you may think however its not flimsy either.

Above is the cover with 2 Duracells, and it does bend =D
The dimensions I used gave me a very tight fitment, so not much empty airspace between the vellum and the keys.
edit: I was going to try carbon wrap for the Pure but its doesn't seem like an A4 piece will cut it (only have an A4 sheet)
