Right on over at Newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823201051&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL121712CO&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL121712CO-_-EMC-121712-Index-_-Keyboards-_-23201051-L022C) we have an MX Brown RK-9000BRI for $69.99 with promo code EMCJHJB62! Lowest price for these white casers I've personally seen so far.

So it's a philosophical question - sure as a Geek you can reinforce the USB port and buy a less firm cable - but do you want to send a message that poor quality is ok as long as the price is low?
Not much of a con to me. If its an easy fix and quality otherwise, I don't mind getting my hands dirty.

I think he's saying it's the principle of it. They didn't fix the problem, why should we buy just because you discount?
Either way i'd still buy it if I was in the market, that's a good price for a good board. Did they ever fix the print on the caps being absolute trash?

Did they ever fix the print on the caps being absolute trash?
One of the reviews at Newegg indicates that the key caps are engraved. It that is true, then it appears they have abandoned pad printing in favor of a more durable method, if that's what you meant. As far as the quality of the lettering, I've never seen one in person and cannot say. Perhaps someone will report on it here. I have also seen somewhere on GH that Newegg has taken action regarding the flimsy USB connector, and the most recent batches (i.e., those manufactured in 2012) reportedly have a much more sturdy receptacle. This may have applied only to the versions with black cases, though. I can't find the thread right now.

They were never pad printed, they were lasered on the older (my) model, but it blew donkey ****s. Wore the WASD cluster down noticeably within literally the first 2 days of having it (I game for an average of a couple of hours a day at least) and by a week you could barely even see the W and S keys' printing. The plastic was ass too. The shine off the case where I rest my thumbs near spacebar could substitute for a reflective solar mirror in a pinch.
But, engraved eh? That does sound tempting. I heard these are PBT as well. . .
EDIT: or was that the Leopolds? I can't keep these brands straight sometimes.

You almost had me... I got as far as the initial PayPal screen...
I'm not too interested in Browns but I always said to myself if I were going to get a board with them this would be it.
Unfortunately I read a review that says even on the BRI the USB port gets a little loose.

No issues with mine. It is sort of "loose" feeling, but just don't play with it >_>.
I don't expect it to fail anytime soon.
Notice, it has no reviews that the usb port has failed.. just that it's looseish.

My early 2012 Rosewill has pad printed keycaps. It's a 9000RE, though, so I hope these do have updated caps.
