I'm building a 456GT and figured you all might like to see some pics... something of a build log with not so much talking really.  :)

This silly thing is HEAVY!  And that's without the plates.  With the plates this thing is ridiculous.

Matte black is really nice.  I'm curious to see how fast it picks up hand oils though.

Total noob here. Those switches have such long fixing pins on them. Those are pcb mount switches right?

The ones in the bucket?  Hand inserted diodes.

Yea the ones in the bucket. Errr.. a little confused now but does that mean those are plate mounted switches and you had diodes inserted instead of soldering the diodes separately onto the pcb?
Title: Re: 456GT build...
Post by: alaricljs on Thu, 10 January 2013, 15:41:53
They are PCB mount and I put the diodes inside the switches.

Post by: Leewei on Thu, 10 January 2013, 15:43:09
I see, seeing there is a plate could you have used plate mounted switches?
Title: Re: 456GT build...
Post by: alaricljs on Thu, 10 January 2013, 15:47:31
Could have, yes.  The PCB has the proper holes and there's nothing quite like the experience of the solidity of a plate+PCB mount build.  Being a 6+lb KB it'll be rather interesting.

Haven't gotten word on what color to install :)  Scr/Caps in-switch only.

Cool! Is it supposed to blink when you depress a key? I think that would be annoying, but the fade effect is certainly cool.
