Hi everyone !
I'm new here and I need some advice..
What would you choose ?
CM Storm Quickfire Rapid (mx red, with PS/2 interface) or CM Storm QuickFire PRO (mx red, with usb only)??
BTW.
Are cherry red good for first mech kb ? Is it good for "more gaming, less typing" person ?
I wanted browns first but i can't get any keyboard with that switch in my country. Then I was looking for smth with blues but I can get only Blackwidow - I don't like it :(
So I decided to choose reds.
What are you thinking about it ? Is it a good choice ?
Thx for help

ah.. mechanical keyboard .com ships world wide.
They have everything...
See if WASD keyboard will ship the sampler kit to your country, it comes with all the switches and keycaps and Orings, so you can try all the stuff out.

I tried all switches :) I got smth like this for some time http://i3.ytimg.com/vi/BX33v3X7GFE/mqdefault.jpg
I decided to choose browns, blues or reds.
I've checked that site already but they dont have QFR with browns atm and all they got is above $100 + shipping...too much for me..
And I can get QFR Rapid or PRO with reds for less then $100

In the USA, the Pro with REDs sells for as low as $60 with NO REBATE, so if $40 will ship to Poland, I'm sure one of the guys here can do it for you.
The quickfire Rapid with Reds, Lowest I've seen it is $70ish with REBATE in the US, so yea also possible, assuming $30 will get it to poland. But the Rebate is the problem.

hm..i found on mech kb com qfr rapid with blues, they have it in stock..
but now a question..
blues brown or red ? I like them all, i like the sound of blues but I'm gaming much and wandering if blues will be good for it ?
Unfortunately they don't have anything nice with browns but got with blues or red.
It's goes for me browns > blues > red

Hello sir, My favorite switches are Reds. Faster than blues. For typing I think Blues or browns are better( learning to type that is). Red is diffidently the fastest to type on. I make less mistakes on reds even though most people say you make more. Pros and Rapids? I think they both weight the same or is similar. If you want a number pad or not. They both feel good. I would go with whatever is easier to get or is cheaper. PS/2 and USB are not that much different to me. I just like PS/2 because I get more USB ports. If it is 6kro then it will be good enough. I think if you are wanting any more than 6kro over usb, you are asking for trouble. I would recommend reds, but I don't know if I would have it as my first switch. Reds were my third. But I do love them.

Thx for answers, I ordered rapid with red switches :) I hope it will be good. If not - I will sell it and/or buy new one :P

Blues seem to be the cheapest and easiest to find. It is not good for gaming. If you are RTS gaming where you don't double tap as much, that would be the only exception for blues. I would say reds are best then browns then blues (for gaming that is). I am not sure what is "better" for typing reds or blues. Reds are just faster for me. If you are into that.

When I switch to different switches, it takes me a while to get used to. I would say reds are the fastest for me to get used to but then again I already learned how to type. Coming from rubber domes, I think reds would be very light. I felt that my browns were very light when coming from Rubber Domes. Reds are lighter than Browns thus why it is the fastest for me.

Welcome to Geekhack (says Rowdy, arriving late for the party).
Some people have trouble gaming with blues as you have to let the key most of the way up before you can press it again, which can cause problems with double-tapping.
Not many people seem to really like browns - they are kind of a half way switch.
Reds are fairly safe - but you seem to have already made your decision.
Worst case scenario - if you really don't like the keyboard you can sell it to a friend to spread the mechanical keyboard love :)
QRF by the way - good solid keyboard. I have one with blacks.

probably i will do that :D i should get my new kb today probably :) can't wait :P
For sure I will share my feelings with u guys :)
Thx for help <3

PS/2 is best way to connect a keyboard to a computer. If u want quality you get PS/2. If you don't care about quality then just do whateva.
-
PS/2 ports are on the way out. All of my newer computers (Apple, Dell, HP) have no PS/2 port.

He go QFR, I love reds and I think he will too, I would be shocked if he didn't. Well maybe after a week or two, to get used to.
QFR supports PS/2. I use PS/2 mainly because that means I get to have one more USB port. All my keyboards are 6 key rollover, Don't think I will need much more, Unless there is a command with 7 keys....

all depends on the mainboard. Mine got PS/2 port so thats why I was asking :P

All my new computers have 2 ps/2 ports.
PS/2 computers are widely available across the entire planet. They are sold 24 hours a day 7 days a week at a very large number of places. I get mine at NewEgg but u r free to get them anywhere u like.
People who demand quality, use PS/2 since it is the best way to connect a keyboard.
My new computer came with 4 USB 3.0 ports.
USB 1.1 is what USB keyboards use and USB 1.1 is on the way out.

If you own an elite computer with PS/2 keyboard port then you would be ripping yourself off not to use it.
