Title: 45g (- 40g?) Korean springs with lube on linear switch
Post by: LollyWater on Thu, 20 December 2012, 08:54:42
How are they? Are they an extreme or actually a viable option? I'm getting my MX Red board soon and I'm pretty pumped. I hate any force on my keys. I'm a gamer and a very lazy typist.

Mostly we discuss force in terms of how hard you have to press down to activate the switch, but somewhere there is a tipping point where the stiffer spring provides a more powerful upward recoil for a faster reset.

Perhaps that is why the heavy blacks are so popular with gamers.

I thought Red's were the most popular for gamers, if I'm not mistaken?

Donno, haven't tried them yet.  Cherry Reds are light enough for me as is.

If u get ur Cherry Reds lubed that allegedly takes 5g off and makes it buttery smoooth.   I will have my lubed cherry reds in a couple of weeks and can tell u how they feel compared to my nonlubed cherry reds.  I live for Keyboard Science!(tm)

My faves are reds. I love to type on them, more than gaming.

Korean 45s are like cherry 30s right? it is somewhat lighter?

I love the light switches.

Unlubed Cherry Reds are plenty stiff enough to hold up my fingers so I never actuate keys accidentally.

However I have my doubts about those light Korean springs with Lube.  The activation point might be at 30g with only 15g of force at the top.

I would buy the korean springs and try them out.... but I don't feel any need to atm.  I am already typing way to hard on my cherry reds as is.  My hands are used to 60g Cherry Blacks and 60-100g rubberdomes.  I keep banging the keys down into the steel plate.  Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!

Has anyone here actually tried 45g springs (which would be 15 lighter than stock red/browns) ?
Anyway, I'm anxious to get some (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=40253.0).

Broken link.

The link wasn't broken when I put it in. Google cached results show that thread existed, with title "Temporary Store" (for Originative.com). It was under the Originative subforum (http://geekhack.org/index.php?board=137.0) in the Marketplace section, and in it Sherryton said he could get those springs.
