So I have a couple HHKB's both because of the layout and the size. I love them and wouldn't give them up (use one for travel and one at work). I figured that I should complete the topre experience and so I just got a 87U EK. I figured it would feel almost identical to the HHKB's (or maybe that is where I set my expectations). I am pleasantly surprised. The realforce feels better. Not trying to start any flame wars, but I was a lurker for a while looking for advice on new boards and figured I would share for those after me.
Honestly, I am still going to use both the HHKBs and the realforce and would still buy both. But I figured that having the realforce would be similar to the HHKB because of the switches, but something about the platemounting or something else does make the experience significantly different. I have read this from other users in one way or another, and am confirming.
(I should perhaps mention that I have a number of boards with reds, blues and browns as well, but I switched to the dark side after the first HHKB)

Grats on your purchase, and yes, the plate-mounting does make a difference in the feel of the switch.

Interesting.
I went the other route, and came to the opposite conclusion. I started with a 87u 45g (non-ek version), then got the 55g, and finally a HHKB, and vastly prefer the feel of the HHKB to the RFs (although both are light years ahead of my Cherry boards).
Regardless, welcome to the Dark Side. We have cookies.

Yeah, not surprising that there are different preferences. I think it is that the realforce feels a little springier. Probably the plate mounting.

I have yet to try a HHKB, but I do have a RF board.

LOLLLLLLL @pics above
And that's cool, I'm thinking to get a realforce 104u some point in 2013 :)
