For the life of me, I can't find a simple Floppy disk set for DOS 6/6.22 and Windows 3.1/3.11 Trying to run it in a VM, which seems to be running fine with a DOS boot disk.
Suggestions?

This place seems to have it, but is expensive...

I'm pretty sure I have legit DOS 5.0 disks in my basement somewhere.
-
I know they're available on TPB but it's business-related so I want to go as legit as possible.
Long and short is that some lady has old personal ancestry software that ran on win3.1 and now wants it back, but it's in some proprietary format. We would have to get back onto a windows 3.1 install, run the software, convert it to a GEDCOM and then export it to meet her needs.
what a hassle eh?
EDIT: LOL Just found a set of compressed disks on our work archive server, but they're in Norton Disk Manager style compression. It's going to be a long afternoon.

UPDATE!
installing MS-DOS 6.22 from the 3 floppies (Finally got the info written on them).
I've got the 2mb Windows 3.1 file from Technet and I should hopefully just be able to run that and get going with Win3.1.

If it's old software you need, Vetusware (http://vetusware.com/) has it.

You could have come over to my house, I have a working 286 with win 3.1 LOL.

Nice. I have TES:Arena on 8 floppies if you want to borrow it :D

I think I still have my Lucasarts collection kicking around somewhere. Most of the games are dead and gone but I still have a scratched to hell copy of Sam and Max Hit the Road in my pile o' discs.

Windows 3.1 on 7 discs.
Getting Dos 6.22 to install off 3 was bad enough considering i'm working with a VM machine and USB floppy drive.
so many retries.
EDIT: NVM Since they're IMA files they mount and install about a thousand times quicker than te setup I was running before.
Technically I have windows 3.1 installed but now I have to figure out how to launch it from DOS. It's literally been about 15 years haha

You have tried to run it under 16bit emulation under a more modern 32bit windows, right?
Most programs run just fine this way...
-
A few years back I got DOS and Windows 3.1 up and running in order to play TIE Fighter over the local network with a friend. Highly recommended. Don't forget to run MEMMAKER.EXE :D
-
I've got 6.0 and 6.22 from MSDNAA, though I've never used them. Hell I'm only 20 so the oldest I remember is Win95...

Ironically, about 3 hours into the repair, I had tried that and it worked just fine in xp. My boss had been adamant that it not work. When I pressed further he said "Well the lady said she tried installing it and it didn't work" lol
Either way I was so close to being done with the install I finished it out of spite.

I saw that noted in the install advice. "If you have a 286 processor or higher. . ." Is a socket 1156 core i5 higher than a 286? I think it might be.
-
Slightly, maybe half a step?

Might be the Tock to the 286's Tick.
-
I think I have some original 3.5" DOS 6.22 floppies around. No drive for them though.
-
Why not FreeDOS? Just curious.

ReactOS (http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html)?

I still have a sealed copy of DOS 6.22 at home. Brand new, never used etc. :D
