Monoprice

$390 for DVI only input and a 1 year warranty against 5 dead pixels anywhere on the screen.
Overlord
http://overlordcomputer.com/collections/displays
They have monitors ranging in price from $370 to $530
The $370 one offers only the single Dual-Link DVI and a Grade A Panel (more on this later)
The $470 one adds VGA, HDMI, DP and audio with a Grade A Panel
The $470 one had the 2B overclockable PCB (my guess, someone else pls verify) with a Grade A- Panel and dual-link DVI only
The $530 one has the 2B overclockable PCB (once again, guess) with a Grade A Panel and dual-link DVI only.
They all come with a 1 year warranty against any amount dead pixels occuring within the 1 year time period, based on panel grade.
Onto grade, grade A panels will have no more than 5 dead pixels anywhere on the screen, while Grade A- panels will not have more than 5 dead pixels within the 'middle third' of the monitor, or 18 over the whole monitor. Apparently they manually check and verify every panel for the pixel and overclockability of every panel.

$400 for DVI, DP, HDMI, VGA, and audio inputs, I can't find anything specific on dead pixel policy or warranty terms except that it's 1 year long.
If you got anymore '$300' American based IPS vendors, post-em below!

You're paying a nice little $100 premium over the Korean IPS monitors, but they are located in US making returns easy, and perhaps they have more features or a more durable stand than the korean ones.
They look to be out of stock at the moment, but I'm interested in reading some reviews on this monitor!
E: I read the description, that $100 premium gets you a 1 year warranty and free replacement if 5+ pixels are dead, without having to ship back to korea. Worth.
i wonder how easy it would be to destroy 4 pixels if only one was dead ;)
after using this dell 2209wa IPS monitor for a few years i'm going to have to make any primary monitor i purchase in the future at least 120hz, but that's not bad at all for general use
-
I see only a DVI port, and the stand doesn't appear to offer anything special.
At a first glance, it looks a lot like the First FSM-270 models.
If they actually had goods to ship, I'd take the Overlord X270SE for a comparable product, but cheaper and with a better stand...
-
With DVI-only I wonder if they went bone-dead controller leaving out all the scaling and image manipulation...
-
likely
-
Not overly interested considering it's 16:9. I actually really like my 16:10 Dell that i've got...Then again...the only thing I've actually regularly used is 16:10, except for the stray visit somewhere else, which i really didn't like. I also really prefer DisplayPort...
-
So, inteli722, what would you recommend as a 16:10 monitor preferably with DisplayPort?
-
Looks similar to that monitor that came out recently from Nixeus.
About $450 for the same 27" LG 2560x1400 IPS panel as this uses. I would buy this over a Korean brand. But I would have to update my graphics setup too.

What about the Overlord Tempest X270SE - Grade A? It's $369.99 on their website, but currently sold out =/

re-did the OP for you DanGWanG <3
If anyone has complaints on how sloppy a job I did, or know of any other american-based vendors, post below!

Good deals. But 16:9 is the Devil's resolution >:D
-
aspect ratio... not resolution
-
/me has no issues with 16:9 resolution.
I'd be in for one of the overlord ones, but it looks like they don't provide a warranty. =(
EDIT: wait, the OP says they have a warranty. I can't find this anywhere on the website.. Can someone please help me out?
-
16:9 isn't very good for web browsing... Even 16:10 isn't very good... 16:9 is just Epic worse...
And the cheaper IPS panels usually have a serious problem with uneven back-lighting which makes them terrible for darker scenes in 16:9 movies. the 2.35:1 movies look ok, because it's so narrow that the unevenness doesn't matter.
And these IPS panels do not have the premium back lighting that comes in more expensive panels, so MUCH of the benefit of better colors from IPS is negated..
Yes you do get 8bit, so no dithering bands, but the color performance DOES not really exceed TN
-

Yes. I had that model, and you are correct in your assumption.
I've also had a U2711, and two ZR2740Ws.
With that said, I'm looking for a Catleap or similar again.
BTW, these use the panel from the Apple 27" display, and its only one digit off in model # from being same panel as u2711.
They are just the panels that Apple etc likely didn't want as far as QC goes.
The LG part number for the panel is LM270WQ1
-
Despite only being off by one digit, I have read the the LG panel the U2711 uses is actually completely different.
Keep in mind that the WASD V1 and V2 are only one digit difference.
-
You can buy an A+ screen for $345 shipped: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-by-DHL-Brand-new-A-LM270WQ1-LM270WQ1-SDA2-LM270WQ1-SD-E3-LM270WQ1-SDC2-2560/687824535.html
Zero dead/bright pixels guaranteed. Then you just have to build the rest of the monitor :)

I believe the u2711 is an 8/10 bit panel, what ever that means.
After owning the u2711 and the Korean ones in question, I prefer the Korean. If you factor out price, I still prefer the Korean due to lack of anti glare coating, which kills the u2711.

I keep my eyes out for broken Cinema Displays in the hopes of a swap, have yet to try one of those.

Bought from Overlord during the holiday season. I love it/those guys.

I believe that means it's a true 8 bit panel (Which most decent IPS are, I believe) that uses dithering to get to 10. I do believe you can buy some of these korean ones that use the LG "10-bit" panels.

So, inteli722, what would you recommend as a 16:10 monitor preferably with DisplayPort?
I'm using a Dell U2412M(b), and it works great. If you're looking for good color reproduction (but don't need AdobeRGB), then I would highly recommend it, due to it's Bang/buck (you can get it for USD300). 1920x1200 resolution and eIPS. If you want regular IPS, then that's gonna bump you up a couple hundred USD to the U2410 (though there's also the Asus PA246Q for that, similar price). Haven't really checked out any Korean stuff yet, but I really like my Dell and plan on getting a couple more for Eyefinity sometime.
(PS yes, the U2412 has DisplayPort. The only major port it's lacking is HDMI, which isn't completely necessary)
-
I wish I could purchase one of these 27" 1440p monitors as pixel perfect.
Apparently I should've ordered from overlord earlier if I wanted them. Hmmmmmm.

My u2211h is awesome and it's served me well, and the ultrasharp line is spectacular especially in fit and finish...
However, again, after owning both... Catleap > U2711

If you guys are serious about getting into panels... wait for the 3014... It's suppose to be "the ****znitz.

I'm also a bit cash-strapped. I would have 2 more U2412s if not for cash and house limitations

Indeed, I need to spend $555 on DMV registration, a fix it ticket, and a parking ticket from school :( pretty upset about that.

Update the OP, Also I just bough one of the Microcenter $400 ones, I'm excitedly waiting now :D
-
Just wanted to put my experience with the Auria 27" from Microcenter out there.
I purchased an Open Box model back in December for $279. The base had some scratches and there is one stuck pixel in the center right of the screen. Doesn't bother me since it's so small. On Saturday the external power supply made an audible cracking noise and the monitor lost power. Customer Service is only available M-F 9-5. I called on Monday and gave a bunch of info to the third party company that apparently handles their 1st tier of Customer Service. I got a phone call later that day asking me to try plugging the power supply in while it is not connected to the monitor to see if the LED on the power supply would light up since I had said to the initial CS rep. that I had tried unplugging it and plugging it back in but the LED on the power supply wouldn't come on. I was working on some stuff in the garage so I told the new rep. that I would be able to do so a little later. He sent me an email that evening for me to reply to regarding the results of the test so that we could get the ball rolling on a replacement power supply or monitor. He had mentioned earlier that he would be out of the office on Tuesday so the soonest he could ship a new power supply was on Wednesday morning. I emailed him shortly after I received the email to say the LED still didn't come on. He replied Tuesday evening saying that he would ship a new power supply out and would send me tracking information.
All our email correspondence was being cc'd to a few other people, one being the CEO of EQD Corporation. The CEO tells the rep to get the old one back and I get another email from the rep saying I need to send the defective power supply to them and once they receive it they will send a replacement. I had expected better customer service and told them so as now I'm out the time I had to wait to call them since they're not available on weekends and the extra time I had to wait to be notified that I need to send the defective unit back first plus the transit time for the defective unit to reach them.
Moral of the story, their customer service seems to have taken a dive from what I had read previously. Keep this in mind when deciding on a purchase.
I give them an "F- WON"T BUY FROM AGAIN!!!" Ebay-style rating.
