Alessandro posted how to do this a while a ago and thanks to him I tried it today. Here's my journey, hope it helps someone out! :D
P.S I know my soldering skills aren't the greatest. I also acknowledge that I used pliers and scissors to "cut" the hole for the mini b usb cable to fit flush with the case -- I don't own many tools. I'd recommend doing this with a dremel, a better soldering iron and heat shrink.

I dont think it is required to solder the shielding wire together ?
Can anyone verify this.
-
I'm pretty sure you can skip it, I was just trying to keep everything together.
-
Thanks for documenting this! I saw Alessandro's thread as well and I'm glad someone else tried it as well. I was thinking about trying this with my Filco but I haven't decided 100% on it yet.

It's definitely worth it if you switch keyboards a lot your take your board with you places. Very handy, I wish more boards came with a removable cable.
-
Very simple straightforward steps. Although I would have used heat shrink tubing rather than electrical tape.
Well done :)

i agree with the heat shrink. would be neater.
but either way, good DIY. was thinking of doing this to my filco tkl in the near future

I skipped it on both my filcos, it's fine afaik.

I did this on my noppoo but hesitant on my Filco because it still has a long period of warranty ahead of it. D:

Nice work. Thanks for all the detailed pics.

Looks great. Thinking of trying this on my new Filco Majestouch 2 sooner or later.

Not exactly the prettiest of all the detachable USB mods, but glad it turned out well =) Good work

Agreed, but I'm glad it turned out well:D

Definitely not an OCD complaint mod but it does the job! Great work.

Heh, yes I know. If I had the right tools it'd probably turn out a lot nicer.
