Title: Is the Cherry G80 3000 a Good Keyboard (work, gaming)
Post by: Patrick2810 on Sat, 29 December 2012, 14:58:06
Hi
I am new to this forum so hello everyone.

I have recently been looking for my first mechanical keyboard to go with my new PC, however I am on a somewhat "tight" budget for it! I found the cherry g80 3000 for £50 and that seemed good.. but is it a good keyboard? I will be gaming a lot.

If not where can I buy one for a simmilar price - mechanical, blue/brown/red switches.

Thanks!

3000 is not that great for gaming as it only have 2KRO, which mean only 2 key can be registered at once. It depend on what type of games though too, it might not be a big issue. For gaming, I would reccomend 3494 instead, there is one in the classifieds here (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=38628.0).
I like Cherry G80, but they are not the best keyboard ever made either. If you can stretch a little bit more you could get a much better board if you don't mind import. Also, if you don't need a fullsize you might look into CM Rapid as they are a good value, though I am not sure if UK retailer still have anything but black switch.
