Anyone know what kind of switches this maybe vaporware keyboard uses? I bet it's membrane.

Might be able to glean some information from here:

Nothing new under the sun:

I am so not into this whole Optimums keyboard thing. They list all the feature and then never release the thing to the public - they just keep working on it. And plus, what normal user with $1500 to blow on gadgets even wants lcds on each key? Great, that keyboard will have a paintbrush for that tool in Photoshop, and my key will only say B, what it it has always said and I have known that was the brush tool shortcut for years.
I guess I don't get the point of this thing at all. If you check out this companies site, it is full of artsy stuff that is ultimately pointless and not being made anymore.

This sure ain't Optimus, but what I really like about it is the fact that it's one of the few boards with "IBM space-saver" layout.

It's supposed (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080108-ars-gets-its-hands-on-the-optimus-maximus-begins-payment-plan.html) to ship in February, now. There are apparently actual live keyboards out to reviewers now.
It uses Cherry (http://community.livejournal.com/optimus_project/?skip=100) switches, I'm almost positive (http:// http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/faq/) it uses ML (http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/switches/key/ml.htm) switches. (Compare the bottom of the screens to the sliders on the switches).
