Title: NOT REAL: what if CC took custom orders

Ok so here is the fake scenario:

CC takes custom orders and they are $200 per keycap.

1. Would you order one at this price?

2. What would you get?

Keep in mind this is just for fun and I have no affiliation with the Clackfactory or CC himself. I am just a fan and a dreamer.

Ok so here are my answers
1. Yes
2. Translucent greenish/yellow skull with 3D eyes.

2 - More multi-color things that aren't skulls or other new things that aren't skulls. Also, more WASD/Arrow clusters. Or like an entire number row and Backspace and tilde. A RGB mod set! A keyboard case.

No thread in particular, but check out this Alumilite How To (http://www.alumilite.com/HowTos.cfm) website, they have plenty of videos on casting your own parts, they make it look too easy :D

I probably won't buy any ClackClack keycap, I'm more plain style and less ornament.  Though for a one off, the price isn't out of the way... perhaps a hot coal and ice cube pair?

I must tell you that I made some molds and keycaps about a year ago and it was a pain in the ass. There were many mess ups before I got to an acceptable product. The stuff makes a freaking mess as well. Also after about a year with one of my keys it has been slightly discolored from use.

We have had many DIY threads regarding this, but to be honest I don't think anyone has come close to matching CC's quality (materials/art). I can't comment on brobots cause I don't have one yet, but they look pretty damn good too.

I think anyone on these forums who have made keycaps (boost, CC, MMB, and loottttssss of other people) would say it's not particularly easy...or fast lol

To produce sthg decent and bubble free you need at least a compressor and a pressure pot and all the raw material (silicon,resin...) ... Around 250 bucks if you are cheap, it does still worth it if you are creative imho

I would love to know how to do this.
Eventually I'd like to also know how to do metal casting (for like jewlery), metal working (sculpture), and blacksmithing (SWORDS). There was a really cool video some google employee posted which has made me realize blacksmithing is probably the least likely of those skills for me to learn. It would be such a huge time investment.

1. No. Way too much money for a single key. Maybe if it was like titanium or something. I'd probably pay a lot for a solid titanium CC.
2. If I were to do it, I'd want a flat black key, with gold accents. Like only certain features of the skull would be highlighted in a metallic gold.

Red, green and white (roho, verde y blanco) are the colors of the Mexican flag.

I was actually trying to make a play on words, cinco de mayo / clacko de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo being a day for gringos to get drunk thinking it is some sort of major Mexican holiday.

-BODY = Classic Bianchi Celeste color, so well used that the blue primer is showing through
-FACE = shinny chrome or silver color for that old school bling bling
-EYES = purple as your eyes pop out of your head while you push the big ring

.....takes out the green color key that Miami was going to be and walks to garage.....compares to real Celeste color on bike.....not a match, the Miami green is too fluorescent. It probably is the closest SP has though to Celeste in its standard color list though  ::)
