If anyone would like to list the pros/cons, and personal preference that would be awesome!
Enlighten me korean keyboard masters :D
Also if anyone has an extra board pls say so ;)
-
If you go with a full plate Cheat most of the difference is in the look of the case and LEDs (KMAC has more LEDs).
-
Cool thread! Look forward to reading responses. Someone should make a matrix of all the features of Korean boards.
-
1.5x, 1x, 1.5x modifiers, KMAC doesn't have this unless you swap the winkey and winkeyless case.
-
whiskerbox likes my post! <333

The KMAC does not use the AIKON firmware IIRC. The Cheat was on the AIKON, thus allowing PS/2 via bitbanging(I think) what would be interesting is if somebody ran the AIKON firmware on the KMAC since you can assign the matrix in the AIKON client. Herm....
Oh also, the Cheat has a funny story why it comes with a CMA key.
Aesthetically, the corners on the Cheat are rounded while the KMAC is not. Also, the Cheat case is an aluminum-acrylic-aluminum case while the KMAC is all aluminum. Also, the Cheat came in half plates and poly-carbonate etc, where the KMAC came with an integrated into the case aluminum only full plate. (I think that covers a bit of it)
-
The Cheat can be had in 100% aluminum.

Ah, cool. Thanks.

The Cheat story is a very long and interesting one. I have it filed away somewhere. Let me know if you guys want to read it (it was told by someone from OTD, the birthplace of the Cheat).

Post it! I thought the CMA was pretty funny.

AHAHHAHA I found out what the CMA key meant from the OTD Wiki (http://www.otd.kr/gn/wiki/%EB%8D%94%EC%B9%98%ED%8A%B8-CMA) that said Copy my Ass on it. Also, the KMAC uses the ATMega32u4, while the Cheat uses the ATMega16.

Cheat my ass!
I thought it was "catch my ass" lol
-
I think it is Copy. Not sure exactly when Tsangan whips out his info. :) I just listen, I don't own any of the boards I talk about. heh.
-
Both of them are great kbs. I think the cheat weighs a bit more tho.
Cheat doesn't have detachable USB but supports ps2
-
it's copy :p
I was just making fun ._.
-
Ah. :))

After getting the Leopold, you're finally changing to Korean side eh? Take note, people hoards both of them, wanna get one? Be rich and fast, and then hoard them so newbies who loves them won't get a chance.

I don't have any Korean boards. I just listen to the stories about them:)

Was talking to sinister, just sold him my fc700r :p
-
I see. Whoops. :))
-
The Cheat weighs less than the KMAC. Probably the lighest aluminum keyboard I've owned.
You can read more about my first impressions of the Cheat and KMAC on my blog:

I don't have any either... I just build them ;)

how could you not have one after you build one?
-
I ship it out to the happy owner. I've done 2 or 3 Cheats, built or modified 8 or so KMACs, couple of KMinis, MXminis, LZ boards...
None of them really caught my eye. I have bpiphany's controller for my Filcos so I have everything I need in terms of control over what my board can do.

hey that cheat was suppose to be mine!
but mkawa lied to me and sold it to boost.
and lying is not nice!

That's 2 different cheats... which one was it again?

Cant wait for the board to arrive by the way!
And the reason why i am asking this is because i read DangWang's review on the cheat awhile back. Definetly would be the next keyboard im going to get. Heard great things about mx clears!
Oh yeah, and if anyone wants to share stories on why/how/when/ and who they got their first korean board from that would be sweet! story time gents~

call me a rulebreaker i guess. i am not rich, i didn't WAIT for a kmac to appear i just started talking to people who had them and asked questions. then it took me about 4 months to actually get my kmac due to various issues. in the meantime i was also able to get my hands on a kmac mini and didn't hoard that at all; probably had it for a month or two before I decided to let it go.
someone's bitter.

the one with the green switches!
-
Dunno if it counts as hoarding since it's just collectors keeping their collections :))

What about the lifezone keyboards?

What about the lifezone keyboards?
LZ's boards are very interesting, for example, he put out the LZ W which is a wireless 87 key (with the ability to support 104) and LZ T which is a tenkeymore with the full (prof/7bit style) navigation pack, and a numberpad. It does not however have the F row.
