Was just wondering if anyone knew whether these Cthulhu KeyCaps ever actually made it into production?

Was that one done on a cheap 3D printer?

Yeah I think so, would be interesting if I could get the file. A friend of mine owns a 3D printer (I think he still has it, at least) and I would love to try it out for KeyCaps. ABS for sure.

that looks to be .1mm accuracy on a normal extruder based 3D printer, those printers range from $500 to $2500 (or at least the few i've looked at)
Some ways to improve accuracy would be to use the UV reactive material, those get pretty good resolution, and cost $500 to $2300 up, but the material to print is super expensive (I can't find exacts) but a decent UV printer can get layer accuracy of .025.
One thing that could be done to finish the part, would be to run it through an "acetone-steam-bath" type thing, that would give it a nice smooth glossy finish :)
/me want's a 3D printer so bad

I'm trying to find a really good reason to get a 3d printer... Anyone could help?

They look so impractical to use, but still great
