but which one?
Right now i have an Acer LCD monitor which is ok. But i want to buy a good monitor that has also a good viewing angle. This Acer is good if you sit in front of it but if you like me and like to sit back, maybe even not in front and watch something the colors are not great.
Also with the Win8 craze i thought even a touch monitor would be nice but then i seen the prices and i don't think i consider a touch screen.
In the 90s i had Eizo monitors which were really great. Since then i only had the value monitors.
Any suggestions on a good monitor?

If you have $400-500 and want a 27" there are some really good choices for Korean IPS. Otherwise, budget? Size?

I've been looking into getting a new monitor quite a bit lately. Think I'm going to take a chance on a Yamakasi Catleap and pray there are no dead pixels. IPS monitors supposedly have great pictures and amazing viewing angles.

You might consider the Overlord product line, as they're American-supported. If they ever have them in stock.
The price on Catleaps and friends have gone up over the last year or so, so the premium for the Overlords is very small now.

I saw the Overlords as well. And from what I have seen you are correct the Catleaps have been sky rocketing in price. At one time they were an amazing deal, but at the rate the price is increasing they won't be for long.

LG's IPS monitors are rather inexpensive and pretty solid too. If you're not looking for some fancy superhuge monitor then these 23' will fit the 150-200 dollar bill.

As a note, if you're gaming I'd probably suggest you look into getting an S-IPS panel as full IPS panels are alleged to cause ghosting, video lag, and all sorts of other nasties when you're dealing with fast-paced movement and microsecond response times. I've got an LG S-IPS from about 3 years ago and despite not looking as nice as the newer ones, it works fine in games.

But yea i recommended any asus in the PA or PB lines you should be able to find something you like there.

I got a Viewsonic VX2250 a year ago and it has been great. Sitting next to my friend's IPS iMac display the Viewsonic really holds its own, though the latter isn't actually IPS. The viewing angles aren't as good, but they are pretty good. Its still getting very high ratings and costs only about $150.
If I were to spend much more, I would be more concerned with getting a feature like 16:10 aspect ratio (16:9 annoys me) or a pivot.

Thanks for the tips. See, i never heart about Overlords something learned again.
23 inch is fine but 27 might be ok too. The one thing that is important to me is the viewing angle. And yes, it should be also good for gaming. Though i don't play as much anymore, once in a while i do and the monitor should handle that as well.
I don't care for that stand really since i am thinking of getting a seperate stand for my desk anyway.
Since i never had the need to customer service it still might be also a thing that should be good. or something you don't have a problem with if you need it.

An alternative that is often recommended on here is the Dell U2412M. 24" IPS monitor best in its price class.
Some people whine about 8ms GTG time, but I have no problems with it gaming.

I have one of the catleap 27" models and it is really nice, I feel too spoiled by it. Currently looking for dual 21.5" monitors in 1080p but finding any that can match picture is near impossible (or just finding them without AG coating for that matter).

Yeah you should be fine under 10ms. I think IPS are the way to go these days. I'm really curious to find out more about the Asus PA249Q which is due out in March. 16:10 IPS monitor. Sounds great, but curious about the price also.

Price probably around what the PA246Q was on release which is a hefty sum for a 1920x1200 but its 10bit so the added cost is justtified

I just picked up a crossover 27" Korea IPS. No dead pixels no backlight bleeding and really good stable base. Great pick up
