Some of the prices are justified; in the two years I've been on GeekHack I haven't seen some of those items for sale anywhere.

You may never see them for sale again after these auctions either.

Not to go off topic: But are all the hardcore collectors retiring? It seems like everyone is purging their collection.

The people posting unicorn vomit boards are making them lose faith in their once pure and noble hobby :-*

On the 1800 HAU? $200 is still on the VERY high side for me on that.

I don't have a clue on Alps stuff as I don't pay any attention to it. If you want an 1838HPU you can get them from ambry (http://www.ambry.com/page/search.asp?search_mode=pn&partnumber=185367-001) for $118.
