Title: Cooler Master 2013 Quickfire Rapids Question
Post by: AltCtrlElite on Tue, 22 January 2013, 19:06:11
Hi, I'm new here and I have a cooler master question on the rapids. In this video:

Near 0:50 seconds they guy said that they redesigned the rapid into having less logos and made it black.
Later in the video, he says that they are already available.
I checked on several websites and found that the rapids being sold don't look those in the video.
The rapids being sold still have a grey picture with many logos.

Where can I get the black and less logo version of the quick fire rapids 2013 in cherry mx browns?

Does this also mean the older and gray ones aren't being produced anymore?
I currently have a cooler master quickfire rapid (blue) and I'm looking for that quickfire rapid with browns 2013 version with no logos and is black.

CM actually removed the branding late last year. I think some here have had success at amazon with unbranded QFRs. Also another recent thread reports Fry's having a lot in stock.

So do they come in black though? I want the 2013 version like in the video. Is amazon the site I can get it? The black with no logo ones (2013). I hate the gray color and logos.

Certain boards come in the black color. I think the Greens and Red switch variations have black cases, and no others.

I heard the QuickFire Stealth will be black case for all switches, which will come out in half a month from what I remember.

If they charge extra for this, it's gonna be a MAJOR rip-off, because we all know it's the exact same stuff + gimmick.

Carter has stated in a CES video that the QFR Stealth will be the same price as the standard QFR.

None of that extra $10 for a Filco Ninja shenanigans here.

Why is Ninja, side printed, shouldn't ninja be complete blank?

Because if a "Ninja" was side print, what would blank be...  "super ninja?",, or "ninja... during nightime?"

It looks like the Quickfire with MX Greens is already on sale on their website (http://www.cmstore-usa.com/quickfire-rapid-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-green-switch/) for only $99.

OP:

You can try asking in the CM Storm subforum, and maybe more specifically in dante's thread about this video...
http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=39462.0

Carter (a CM rep) is pretty good at staying in touch across many forums.

I purchased my QFR in december of last year.. It is the non-branded version (less the logo on the back of the case) that has the rubberized grey coating on the case.

At least that $10 went into a keycap puller + 2 extra window keys.

Though I still wonder why they include the 2 domed top printed window key to begin with, it's like waste of money on 2 extra keys that doesn't make sense on a ninja.

However it's good to know that QFR Stealth will be priced the same, good job CM Storm  :)

If you order from the CM Store, you can specify in the notes that you want a logo-less version. You can also email mechanicalkeyboards.com and they will help you out.. I've ordered from both sites, and they're both top notch. =)

But soooooo many manufactures don't follow that requirement lol.

All rapids will be sold with black casings from this point on.... when we said they are available "now" that means everything ordered from factory will be with new outlook. Stealths are on the way in certain colors, but we still have other switch types with high inventory which need to clear out first.

For North America, almost all rapids are switching over to "Stealth" model. We may change this in the future, but too many SKUs with switch type/keycap printing/ potential bezel color......

Really? No more non-stealths? That's interesting!

Ah, the dreaded inventory glut. (Dealt with this on processors, memory, and so on.)

Is there still non-'stealth' inventory on the CM direct store, or is direct only shipping unbranded now? Giving serious consideration to a blue for hauling around. (p.s. PBT keycap options. Please. Please. Please. I'm begging you. Even as an accessory or extra cost model. Please!)

A little confused what you meant by the last part.

Your are looking for Branded QF Rapids?

Will any of the new Quickfire Rapids have the option of buying one with LEDs?

Here's what I mean by LEDs:

I think what he meant (still not 100%) is if he ordered a QFR from the CM Store, will he get an unbranded regular QFR instead of a stealth version QFR.
I can pretty much confirm that Newegg and Amazon are shipping unbranded QFR in all switch types with Reds having the black case and the rest with grey cases.

From what I've read here I concluded that:
-From now on ALL QFR's will have black casings instead of most versions being grey. However, CM and other retailers I'm sure still have a lot of grey casing stock left. So for example if you ordered a QFR w/ Blue's from Amazon or Newegg you're probably going to get on with a grey casing.
-CM has a lot of QFR's with certain switch types that need to be sold before they start shipping the all blacks and convert the QFR to the all stealth model eventually. ie People... keep your eyes peeled for sales on the CM store and elsewhere... clearing old inventory = lower prices hopefully!  ;D
-Less than a month before the stealth on is on sale!  ;D

Ok thanks guys, so now all I have to do is wait (probably a long time for the ugly grey ones to sell out) and then I can get the black casing and logo less quickfire rapids. Carter, could you please have a all keycaps PBT option instead of the normal keycap material. And if you can an "otaku" version with all blank keycaps like some das or leopold and filco models. Thanks.

It'd be cheaper for both CM and you to buy their already awesomely priced QFR for $60-ish then buy a quality PBT keycap set on your own.

If cooler master will really have that option I bet so many people would buy it. I wouldn't even care about the price so much. PBT and/or otaku keycaps will make the keyboard probably the best in the market. No other gaming company sells that.

Oh ok but the new version will go on sale for 60ish dollars.? I thought they were 80 to 90 plus pbt otaku keycaps don't come in ten keyless so there are extra keys wasted. I just thought it be less of a hassle. New version being black logo less
