Post by: tauburn on Thu, 24 January 2013, 21:35:44
What is the smallest and most compact keyboard that doesnt have any non standard sized keys. such as shorter spacebar or shift keys etc?

Most likely KBC Poker.  There are other ones but I think only this one has standard size keys which makes changing keycaps easy  :)

BUT I heard Poker 2 is coming out so you should wait a bit to see how the new one is.

There will be a few 60% options becoming available in the next couple months. If you are not in a terrible hurry it might be worth waiting to see and compare those choices. GH60 will probably be the best option overall since you can choose it to be how you wish. If you need something right now, Poker is the most standard, though Pure is not much of an issue either as 1.75 shift is fairly easy to source also. It depends more on the 2nd layer layout between those two choices really.

My Poker isn't here yet, but based on this comparison photo (chiclet/Pure), the Poker is slightly wider and not quite as deep. Mind you, the Pure is in a CNC Aluminum case and I'm not sure if it's smaller than the stock case.

is there a second layer with arrow keys?  I see the function keys...hard to see what else there is.

What is the difference between the poker and the pure?

Other than the LEDS, Poker has Esc/tilde on same key and regular size right shift (Easy to replace), while the Pure has odd shaped right shift (1.75) and tilde to the right of it.

You forgot to mention the function layer difference (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=36722.msg692697#msg692697).

The stock case actually has a slightly smaller footprint.  The aluminum is a little thicker than the plastic.

PURE is the first one that jumped to mind with the original question.  POKERs are easier to mod from what I hear - if this matters.

Dear ShakeR. They have exactly the same footprint. I use a spare Pure case as a dust cover, and it covers the aluminum board almost exactly. The aluminum board is tighter inside around the PCB. The wall on the plastic case is ~2.5mm vs 3mm on the aluminum, but it is going inward.
