Title: [Evaluation] metal Geek - the MKC GeekKey 87-A Aluminum Alloy Keyboard
Post by: thinkpc on Thu, 24 January 2013, 23:15:03

Preface:

MKC, I believe that everyone is familiar with - the famous domestic the keyboard metal parts manufacturing teams (perhaps the company? However, this presentation should not be wrong ...), prior to the Publisher
The MY87 - cafes self-defense weapon - metal keyboard housing
 And
MKC - bright the blind - metal keycaps
Well-known for the majority of players.
Of course, the MKC representative works should their metal keyboard shell - MY87. As a 87 key keyboard design aluminum keyboard housing MY87 for its outstanding quality has won the praise of many players.

However, in my opinion, there are still two issues may have an impact on the MY87 popularity of:
High prices (Of course, this is not the lowest cost - the CNC + hand-polished, this is nothing to be said)
Does indeed say the first reaction of a lot of people will feel a little ridiculous, but think about it is actually very reasonable, and that is the need for their own hands to replace.
Why do you say that? Course, let this forum, that this can have the money can afford MY87, can be determined, the estimated ability is not bad. Proved the practical ability of this thing, not always more than some people
 - Or the PC one machine business exceed DIY many times, so many mechanical keyboard Paul missing a start some people even for the keycaps are hand shiver. Want to become bigger and stronger, and always have a complete set of integrated solutions.

Then is to say, the beginning of 2013, MKC also conform to the changes in world affairs (fog), launched its own first keyboard - GeekKey 87-A (hereinafter referred to as GK87) aluminum alloy metal keyboard, I believe we post a few days ago is this a product to understand. So let us take a look at MKC this time whether the keyboard is still able to maintain its strength in the keyboard housing, GK87 how.

I would be interested to know the price on this keyboard.  If it's anything less than $200, I highly doubt that's CNC aluminum.  It's way too thick.

My guess is it's either poured or plated.  If not, the raw material alone would be in the neighborhood of $60 - before factoring 4+ hours on a $20,000+ CNC machine.  And that's just for the case.

It does look pretty awesome at first glance though.  In-person would be the true test.
