I just got mine... They're 55ohm, so they work without an amp, but I would highly recommend one to really take advantage of these things. Being semi-open by design, they do leak quite a bit.. =/

Honestly, I was worried about the pads too; they're pleather. =/ Before I got them I did some looking around, and found some velour replacements (like these http://www.amazon.com/AKG-2955M10020-Velour-Replacement-K270/dp/B008ZT8VK4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1359160503 (http://www.amazon.com/AKG-2955M10020-Velour-Replacement-K270/dp/B008ZT8VK4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1359160503)) But, now that I have them, I probably won't buy any replacements until the originals wear out, because they're not bad (for my head/ears) at all.. Even after a few hours they're not uncomfortable, and I have big ears. I figure, if I had to buy some earpads, they'd still be a smokin deal @ $61.. =D

Sweet!! I was really hoping it would stoke someone out! =) I looked at the MKII as well, but these were too good a deal to pass up.
