Title: Tool to remove spherical cherry keycaps (maltron)? Normal tool not fitted
Post by: urlwolf on Wed, 30 January 2013, 08:30:50
Looks like the keys are wider at the bottom, and the plastic walls are thicker...
I have one of those plastic rings with two legs; those work on all cherry keycaps I have but maltron's.
Workaround?

You may want a wire keycap puller from TechKeys, WASD, or EK.

In a pinch? get a few different sized paperclips, some pliers, 10 minutes, and get creative;

I used bobby pins for the longest time (until late last fall actually) bent into J hooks or something similar. It took me about an hour to strip a board once.

ooOOOo add some duct tape to that paperclip key puller and it'd be an instant classic :P
