Title: Mechanical key game-pad - Razer Orbweaver
Post by: Zybane on Thu, 07 February 2013, 07:31:17
I just got my Mechanical key game-pad the Razer Orbweaver in and I love it. Comes with MX Blue's.

Looking to match it up with a mini-mechanical keyboard (not only tenkeyless, but no arrow, home, end keys etc area on right) with green LED's and blue switches. Any good recommendations? Really looking for this but apparently hard to find:

Vortex KBT PURE LIMITED Green LED Backlit Mechanical Keyboard (Blue Cherry MX)

I can find the plastic version on Ebay, but I'd rather have the aluminum base. Anyone have one for sale?  ;)

Never a fan of Razer products despite having 2 mice and 2 mousepads.
Sees like a newer and more edgier version of the Nostromo/Belkin with a Saitek-style look.

I can't really see past the use of blues on any of the Razer products tbh. I do have a G13 thats at the GFs place but I rarely used it.

Sees like an interesting product, it'll set you back $119 in Aus for that, which means you need to be pretty dedicated to buy one. I'd rather get another KB, lets say DUcky for that sort of price point.

Just my 2c

Pure is a pretty good choice. If you can't get an aluminium you can also get aftermarket one such as ones made by treble, imsto or oneproduct. These aren't super easy to come by though, but they are awesome.

Might also look good next to a green backlit Race... no aluminum base though.

I like both of them, takes some getting used to the short right-shift on the race though.  Unfortunatley my Pure has browns, and I like the Blues better.

The other thing you could try, because the Pure is PCB mount, would be to get one with Reds or Browns and Change the stems out with Blues (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=12790.0).  I believe the spring is the same in Reds and Blues (http://wiki.geekhack.org/index.php?title=Cherry_MX).

I haven't tried this yet myself, but I'm thinking of doing that to my Pure, since I've got it apart anyway to add LEDs to it.

I like the Race, but I think the full size key Pure will suit me better. I only use function keys and some others rarely, so I don't need their own dedicated keys. While I definitely want to go with the aluminum base Pure limited, apparently they are impossible to find. So I may just go with the plastic one:
