Dibs on a poker plate and PCB
Edit: pmd
-
emailed you iMav !
-
Do you have the white keycap set picture? Are they from the white edition?
-
Sorry if I should know this but, can I just solder keys to poker circuit board and have a poker? What else would I need besides a case?
-
You'll need key stabilizers and LEDs at least.
-
Specifically poker stabilizers? Or are they just cherry mx stabilizers? Just got into mechanical keyboards and still trying to get my first mechanical...
-
PCB mount Cherry stabs for PCB Poker, plate mount for the plate iMav has.
-
Thanks! One last one, will I need to program the board at all? Noticed the GH60 needs it, but maybe the pokers come pre-flashed?
-
No programming will be needed.
-
Thanks for all the help!
iMav: I emailed you for a poker pbc and plate!
A poker may soon be mine :)
-
iMav: email sent on a NIB RACE
Thanks!

PM'd for 1 Poker PCB
-
Imav email sent for Poker plate
Thanks
-
Waiting on email reply :)
-
Emailed fo a Poker PCB and plate...
-
Do the poker circuit boards come with diodes / controller / usb connector ? Trying to figure out what they need apart from a case and switches.
-
Waiting on email reply :)
Same here, sent a few days ago
-
sordna, the Poker PCBs are complete. Only requirements for full function are switches (and stabs)
-
Still waiting on an email response as well, but in the mean time iMav, is there an order limit on the poker pcb and plates? I may want more then one of each now. Thanks!
*EDIT: fixed typo
-
e-mailed.
also, does anybody know what plate that is?
-
So all we need with the PCB are LEDs, switches, and a case?

don't forget stabilizers.
-
iMav, why you make sell thread and no sell to us?
T_T
-
Just e-mailed about the PCB.
-
I'd like to get a PCB and Plate.
-
Just sent an e-mail for a Poker PCB and Plate. Thanks for doing this, iMav!
-
Do you sell metal plates for Poker? How do they look like?
-
did anybody get a reply yet? :'(
-
Nope
-
imav's ridiculously busy right now.
the poker plates are aluminum and anodized black. there's a picture of one of mine in the "post your gh60s" thread in the media forum
-
Just wondering, is the PCB still usable if the DIP switch is removed?
-
yah, basically. you can replace the dip block with jumpers. there are four switches and 8 conductors, so it's pretty straightforward to wire in permanent settings.
-
Emailed.
also is the plate only cherry stabilizers or is it also costar compatible?
-
They are for Cherry plate-mount stabilizers. I believe the plate is steel, FWIW.
-
calling dibs on those white caps....been waiting so long for those
-
I'm off today (President's Day I guess...thanks Intel!).
So, I will reply to all emails and get PP invoices out to folks.
-
Great ! Looking forward ! =D
-
Sweet!

without trying to measure specific density, i'll just say that the plates feel plenty solid to me and that the machining is clean
-
Just received my PP invoice and paid it. Thanks, iMav!
-
papal is payed. Thanks iMav, looking forward to messing around with the PCB/Plates
-
Invoice paid. Can't wait to add a plate to my Poker. Thanks.
-
I think I sent the order to the right email..
imav [at] imav [dot] org
Right? Or is it "me" instead of imav?
-
It's "me" :)
-
Payment sent. Thanks alot, iMav :D
-

D'oh. Resent then.
-
nice, I just paid.
now I need some cherry plate stabilizers and leds.

Thanks iMav, you have been very helpful!

Let me know if you find any better prices than what is on wasdkeyboards :) Know the specs on the leds?
-
Paid. Thank you iMav. :-*

Paid. Now to make my own poker case

WASDkeyboards only have costar stabilizers, and for the leds i hoped to get the information here :)

Will costar not fit, or is that just a preference? I thought I read they will fit somewhere.

From the pictures I've seen I think these plates only support PCB mount cherry stabilizers. NOT costar or plate mount cherrys.

Based on these two quotes, can we get confirmation on which stabs we need? Thanks!

One could have a plate made that would hold Costar plate-mounted stabilizers for you. The Costar design does not depend on the PCB in any meaningful way. The Cherry stabilizers are a different story. The PCB-mount version won't work with a plate, but the plate-mount version will work with or without a plate.
This plate does not have the holes needed to mount Costar stabilizers.

PCB mounts work with a plate. The plates I made for the poker last November allowed you to use PCB mount stabilizers with a plate.

...but will they work with the Vortex plate from this GB?

I was just saying your rule isn't absolute, but in this case it is

Ah...yes you are right. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

It says T-1 3mm leds will work. Can anyone confirm?
-
Yes, they are 3mm LEDs. The resistors on the PCB are setup for typical blue LEDs. I have installed white LEDs that have a slightly lower Vf with some success. I ended up adding a parallel resistor for the Nav key indicators, since there are 4 of them and they ended up dimmer than I liked. If you go with another color, you may have to tweak the chip resistors accordingly. There are 3 of them, IIRC. That said, Vortex is not driving the stock blue LEDs at full power, so they may work OK for other LEDs with lower Vf for a given current.

Perfect! Thank you for all the info. I'll probably end up getting blues and some other color just in case I can't get the brightness just right.
Would it be possible to add a dimmer to these leds? Or are they way too interconnected to the pcb and its electronics?
-
If you are comfortable working with SMD components, you can do whatever you like. I suppose if you wanted full control, you could remove the series resistors and build a separate circuit to control the LED brightness using the raw 5V from the USB cable. The controller on the PCB doesn't provide any means to change how it drives the LEDs, if that is what you are asking.
-
I was just thinking of adding a dumb pot to control the brightness, but now you got me thinking that I want Ctrl+Fn+{up,down} to control the brightness. I could just add my own control like you said off of the usb too (I'll probably do this).
Maybe I'll just wait for a GH60...
-
GH60 will only have one LED: caps lock.
-
Sent you an email... Hope there is some plates left :)
-

Ah ok. I can ask this over on the GH60 boards, but will the GH60's ATMega have any leftover gpio?
-
is this the plate with the poker suits on it?
-
No. It's just a black painted steel plate.
-
PM'd =D
-
Poker plates going fast! Didn't realize how fast. I have 5 left (but still have LOTS of Poker PCBs left).
4 NIB RACE keyboards left (1 MX-Blue and 3 MX-Red).
Please EMAIL me (as per the first post), if interested. don't PM!
-
3 plates left.
-
15 PCBs left.

paid!

How much would shipping for 1 x Plate + 1 x PCB be to Australia?
If it's around ~$10 or so, I would like some please =D

From what I have seen, iMav always uses USPS Medium Flat Rate Box for shipping these. That would be like $40 to Oz.

Wowsers. That is heaps :O
Thanks for the response :)

Yep. I've resigned myself to using USPS exclusively...it's the only thing I have time for. (they provide the boxes and are only a couple blocks away)
