Title: TKL mx-brown KB + Canada?
Post by: GarTheConquer on Sat, 16 February 2013, 03:55:23
Hi guys, this site is awesome!

I'm building a 2nd PC to have at GF's place. I currently have a DAS Ultimate with Blues and I like it but Blues are too loud to have at her basement suite :(

I'd like to try Browns on a TKL anyway. I don't think the CM QF Rapid Brandless comes in Brown does it?  So do I have to shell out $150+ on a Filco from NCIX?

Also, does anyone know where I can get some rubber washer things to make the keys less noisy without affecting the wonderful actuation feel too much?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: Also, I'd prefer blank keycaps.  I have a set of blank whites, half of which are on my current keyboard.  I'd rather get a board with blank caps on it already but it isn't a huge deal to put my other keys on it.

The o-rings you can get from wasd keyboards, technically they're "not" washers, maybe gaskets, but definitely not washers.

I recommend the Blue ones..

OR you can make Ghetto rings, from an old rubberdome keyboard.

If you don't plan on any soldering mods in the future, the filco isn't worth it, because it's only advantage over a QFR is it's PCB which takes to soldering much better.

I just can't stand the CM logos all over the QF...and I think the brown switch ones may still be sporting that scheme.

I'd pay the extra $50 if that is the case...

Get the Filco then, you won't be disappointed :)

Hey, I just stumbled upon this one...

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Noppoo-Choc-Mini-NKRO-Mechanical-Keyboard-Cherry-Brown-/330611595021#ht_8828wt_1168

Can anyone tell me about the Choc Mini?

NM, I don't think it's for me... no page up cluster and the keys are short...

Choc Mini does have page up cluster, it's just all the way to the right in a vertical line.

It even says "brandless", however it's out of stock.

So you can probably send them an e-mail to see when they'll get it in stock.  Or if you don't want to wait then you can never go wrong with Filco  :D

Nice!   I'm concerned about shipping and duty crossing the boarder though. .. it would probably end up being within 20 bucks of a filco anyway :(

Hey Gar, I actually have a brandless QFR with browns, and also a set of blank black PBTs. They mostly just sit in my closet as part of my collection, but I'd sell them to you since the situation sounds kinda perfect.  I can always find them again more easily in the states if I feel like it later. Plus, you were cool to deal with last time, so I don't mind shipping out to Canada again :)

I'll PM you in a little bit once I check over that I still have all of the pieces.
