Hey Guys, so my friend is on an apprenticeship as a fabricator/welder and joking around I asked him if he could make me a keyboard case, he actually took it seriously and after showing him a few pictures he said he could do it! :))
So I thought about the GH60 as I'm quite interested in this already, only problem is that I'm not at all into product design (I'm a software developer) so I don't know how to design a case. Where could I get some designs/measurements for a really simple 60% case (I understand that Poker cases will work with the GH60?) that he can make with stainless steel or will this have to be something I design myself.
Any help appreciated :D

in my opinion the easiest case to make would be with layers. so you dont need a whole block of steel, which is expensive...
i have some ideas but no tools.

Actually it does, think of all the scrap you make by cutting out for the center of the case! But even with all that scrap, it's still cheaper than mill time

Thanks for the replies, I'm not really sure how he was planning to do it but he said he could if I got him the measurements and what not. I can ask him how, if this is important to the measurements? :D
Tym- I think this will be a one off to be fair mate unless it looks really good when it's done :P

Even if it's just a one-off, please keep posting about this approach!
After thinking about the cost of CNC and other mass-production methods, I've been thinking this week about working with a local independent welding and/or machining shop.

Ye, I sure will post it on here, I found this http://imgur.com/a/KzZ9C somewhere in the classifieds and this is the kind of thing I'm looking to make.
Anyone have the CAD drawing for the 60% plates?

Plate for which 60% do you want? I can send you the drawing for Poker, Pure, or one of the GH60 layouts.

I'd say use the Pure, that way it would work for both the Poker and the Pure.

I don't have case drawings, only plate drawings. :)
-
That would be brilliant, have you possibly got the ANSI Poker Style Design? Cheers :D
-
Just PM me your email address, and I'll send you the Poker plate drawing. :)

What is the most popular package around here for creating / editing plate files?
What file format do the shops prefer? (EDIT: and if "AutoCAD", DXF or DWG?)
What sort of shop are these sent to (CNC? plasma cutting? laser cutting?)?
