Title: Thick PBT Caps
Post by: cobraj on Wed, 20 February 2013, 00:46:52
Hey guys.
I was just wondering if anyone knew if the following existed: Thick Blank Black PBT Caps.

So if they do exist, does anyone know where I can get some of these?

Thanks in advance guys.

Dude I've been looking for a set like this for 100 years. Thick, blank, PBT, cherry profile, and either black or charcoal dark grey.

Sherry, are these from GMK and they're PBT?

@ cobraj - the exact combination you're looking for doesn't exist (yet?). You'll have to compromise on the color, material, or thickness.

This would be my ideal set of caps. I'd buy a set or two in a heartbeat.

Yeah. I can't believe no one has made these yet :O
Always a sad day when you have to compromise for your keyboard haha :P.

Definitely. And because it's black, might be cheaper to produce?

Yes, I saw "dark grey" mentioned once in that thread and the caps mentioned are barely regular gray.

Mostly they sound different.  There is possibility that they effect the feel of a switch due to the higher mass, but honestly the mass differential is bound to be imperceptible by human fingers.

I can tell the difference between old thicker Cherry PBT and the really light and thin current production. It is pretty subtly though, barely noticable on linear but a little more evident on clicky type. To me the biggest advantage to these thick is that they are Cherry profile which I do find much more pleasant to type on personally. While it dosen't actually change the travel distance it seems like it is less since they are not so tall and I find there is less side to side wobble which is another good thing.
