I bought a Noppoo Choc mini some weeks ago, I am loving it but... What are the Fn+F10 and Fn+F11 for? I can't figure.
-
well it doesn't do anything on my computer.
-
I wondered the same thing when I owned my Choc Mini. Does treble control sound familiar to anybody?
-
I also have a choc mini and read a while ago that it has something to do with some latency settings - I have absolutely no clue if that even makes any sense - I can't see any difference.
-
The mistery is only increasing...
At first I thought it could be for mic volume. But it doesn't work.

I got my Noppoo Choc Mid 87 yeaterday, and today I learned something about those functions. Pressing Fn and the
F1 key brings up Windows Explorer
F2 brings up Internet Explorer
F3 brings up Windows built-in Calculator
F4 brings up Windows Media Player
F5 doesn't do anything (has the |< symbol)
F6 doesn't do anything (has the >| sumbol)
F7 mutes Windows Media Player
F8 stops Windows Media Player (mover progress bar to far left)
F9 mutes sound in Windows Media Player
F10 decreases sound " " " " "
F11 increases sound " " ' " "
F12 doesn't do anything (as of today)
That's my experience, so far. I'm using Windows 8.

The FN key on mine does none of the things above.

If I recall correctly (and I could very easily be wrong about this), it has something to do with increasing or decreasing the debouncing time as a mechanism for compensating when aging switches begin to chatter. Those symbols on the Choc Mini do look similar, now that you mention it, to those on the PLUM 96 for that feature, so that may well be what it is.

But the Choc Mid has an entirely different function-layer configuration to the Choc Mini, so it's not terribly relevant here.

Interesting, it might be something like that.
Fn+(F10|F11) doesn't return any key code in showkey.

I'm on a Mac. The only Fn + Function keys that do anything at all are the F11 and F12 keys. (Choco Mini of course.)

Fn+F12 should be Insert, but what keycode does Fn+F11 return?

Got nothing to do with windows 8, m running 8 and none of those work for me on choc mini X_X

Any ideas? Will this help my double keystrokes I get this this keyboard?

I had the strangest problem with my noppoo choc mini today. I found that when I typed two of the same character in a row, e.g. 'e' in deer, the second letter wouldn't register unless I typed deliberately slower. So I every time I typed hello it would come out helo, deer would become der, etc, quite frustrating. Turns out I had played with Fn+F11, didn't see any feedback and thought nothing of it. I randomly decided to play with these mysterious keys again, and sure enough tapping Fn+F10 a few times made the problem disappear. This seems to support FoxWolf's hypothesis. The reason it only affected repeat keys was because I hit them in much quicker succession. Now if I could figure out a way to view the current debounce time that would be swell.
Edit:
Sorry for dragging up an old topic. I had no idea what debouncing was and only found this thread/forum after searching google for "noppoo choc mini F10 F11" The review posted a few days ago explains it pretty well http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=43054.0 but I thought I would at least provide a confirmation here for other google searchers who happen to find this.
For the sake of others like me who may not think to use the word latency in their search for the solution to the problem I had, here are a few keywords for google to pick up so they might find this thread (i.e. the things I initially searched for): noppoo choc mini dropping keystrokes, doesn't register double keypress, type too fast (I knew something was seriously wrong... I only type 100wpm at my best and I've seen people type 170+ with this keyboard on typeracer)
