Not sure if its a great find per say, but I stumbled on this and thought it was interesting.
Copyright infringement aside, I think these look pretty good. I might give these a try :)

haha
They look great, but I'm not sure about the quality of the material.

+1 ^
It's really too bad about stuff made in China. It looks good, be we are all dubious of the quality from bad experiences in the past.
Copyrights? In China? :)) Good joke.
-
Well, apparently the material was made in Austria:

That's great and all, but I'd be worried about the craftsmanship of actually putting it together into a wrist pad.

IIRC, NIQMods was going to do a buy of these with Geekhack printed on them. Let me find the thread here... Aha! Found it! (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=36343.0)

It was put on hold and thread is closed until further notice though. Also, the group buy doesn't offer the brown/tan leather options.

You know, it might be worth it to do a group buy of these Taobao wrist rests if we could get them in really short versions, like that would fit a Poker or 60% keyboard. I would be interested in taking a chance on poor quality wrist rests from Taobao (with Australian leather!) if I could get a 10-12 inch version. Side Note: Is Australian leather any good, btw? I've heard of high quality Argentine leather, and of course Cordovan leather for shoes, but all I know of Australian leather is their legendary UGG boots, which are made from sheep skin.
-
Austria* Anyway, it is pretty funny that they have all those logos available.
We should get Razer ones and embed LEDs in it.
-
I would be in for a geek hack one if there was a new GB going off :D
-
LOL. Austrian? Man, I need to learn to read. ;D
Well, all I know about Austrian leather is they make lederhosen out of it. And it probably comes "mit schlag".

Necrothread resurrected. Just ordered two wrist rests and I should have them in a week or so. I paid extra for EMS shipping so it was a little more expensive than I thought. You can probably get it for $35 shipped per wrist rest with regular shipping. Mine came out to $43 shipped each. These things are dirt cheap at $15+shipping originally. Locally you can probably get it for like $25 shipped max lol
WIll update with impressions and pics once I get them.

nice i'd be interested in a group buy if they are decent quality.

I'd definitely be interested in a Cherry-branded TKL wrist rest if it can be had for less than Ducky TKL wrist rests. Only wish it weren't that odd shade of brown.

They do come in various colors. I ordered red and black; one in plain and the other in stepped shape.

I bought 2 of these a while back, I must say they are VERY good quality, I can post some photos later today after I get home.
downside? it costed a lot for the shipping. (think it was $40)
edit: TKL version with black leather and filco logo. will get picture of my second one tomorrow.

They arrived!!
I bought two in TKL 37cm size. The red is off in this pic. (the very bottom pic is more true to color)

One is stepped (as in the real filco rests) with a filco logo, and red in plain with cherry logo. They do have a **** ton of other logos to choose from.
Sometimes I'm glad they don't give a **** about copyright laws. haha

Here's a pic of my real filco wrist rest that I've had for 6 years.
Notice how thin the outer layer is and it has started peeling off in the recent years.

Compared to the real filco wrist rest, these are a tad softer, probably due to the thickness of leather. I paid $43 shipped per item and shipping took 5 business days from their taobao offices to my door step. I chose EMS shipping which is faster and more expensive though so if you chose regular shipping it's around $38 shipped. That's still way cheaper than anywhere else.
All in all, the quality is surprisingly great. Bhiner didn't give me any trouble either.
If you're willing to wait around two weeks I highly recommend these!

Looks really nice! I don’t think the build quality for wrist rest really matters though, it’s a wrist rest after all.... but again I am but anoob
-
I wonder if they can make 60% sized wrist rests.

They make 37cm, 47cm, 45cm rests, so I don’t think they do....
-
They look nice! Still not what I'd call cheap though. My Ducky wristrest was $35 shipped, and it looks like the Cherry logo one, but with Ducky logo. It's all bonded leather, which is to say... mostly plastic with a hint of leather and a lot of chemicals :)

Did you use a proxy to order from Taobao? I'd love a Cherry branded TKL wrist rest to pair w/ my LZ, but I've never ordered from them before (also, I don't know Chinese...).
-
What was the shipping like? Last time I ordered from Taobao the shipping was almost as much as the keycaps themselves.

I used bhiner.com as my taobao proxy. Though they seemed to have screwed up a few people's order in the past, I've had zero problems. They ship in timely manner and show pictures of your package being weighed for transparency. Shipping is about the cost of the wrist rest itself actually. haha
