Tore down the AE2 last night for a cleaning. Just need an ADB cable to plug it in. Since I am out of town on work for the next 3 days starting tomorrow, I may see if the local apple store has one instead of waiting for one in the mail.
I took a lot of pictures of the re-assembly. I should have done tear down pics but I was learning myself at that point. I have two and I'll do tear downs of the other AE2 when I clean it. I was also in a hurry to snap each photo because my daughter was more interested in the board than I wanted her to be at the moment.
I've got the album here:

I'll do a post/wiki with some verbage later in the week.

Interesting that the function keyswitches are oriented vertically.

What's the difference between the Apple Keyboard (http://www.macandpcstation.com/servlet/the-96/Apple-Keyboard/Detail) and the Apple Keyboard II (http://www.macandpcstation.com/servlet/the-100/Apple-Keyboard-II/Detail)?

I will find out, but since I am going out of town soon, probably not for at least a week and a half.

The II has height adjustment, one big raiser on the bottom and a slide to raise it. As far as I know *AFAIK (cool)* that is the only difference between them.

I thought they used different types of sliders?

Not that I know of. The height thing is all I knew about.

I found this keyboard (http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-APPLE-Clicky-Keyboard-Orange-Clicky-Sliders-US_W0QQitemZ120089250787QQihZ002QQcategoryZ51085QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQtrksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem) on ebay, and it has orange sliders.

I have one of those. The Alps switches are tactile, clicky and pretty nice.
