So, one of my friends acquired a Cooler Master Quick Fire TK. All keys were working properly and all, but he noticed a metallic spring noise on some of the keys (specifically on the numpad and "A" and "E" keys) during the bottom-out of the key. Here's an audio file with it:

Why's this happening and how's it solved? Lubing the Cherry MX switch itself?

It only sounds different--it feels the same? If that's the case it might just be that it's a new board, my Filco was very loud and pingy for the first 2 or 3 days I had it, but as I typed on it either it got a lot quieter or I just became less sensitive to the noise.
I am by no means an expert, that is a guess.

It's known as the Filco ping, but apparently it isn't limited to Filco. Honestly just ignore it, my Filco pings but I barely hear it anymore cause I don't listen for it.

Probably the plate has too much leeway and is resonating .. my celeritas has a few pingy keys too.
I think it pings most on key release.
Agree, just ignore and plan for a custom board in the future ;)

How I learned to stop worrying and love the ping.
I figure the issue can not be that unique. ALL of the mechanical keyboards I have ever owned have it. More specifically, they all have a ping noise when the spring vibrates as I de-press the key. The one I have at work has it , and my recently bought Majestouch 2 has it quite bad (because it ping's on the spacebar, which I jam much harder than any other button on the keyboard). I could RMA (some shops won't RMA for this, saying there is nothing wrong), but chances are that, at least for the Filco, the new one would have the exact same problem. That plus it does not bother me.

follow up:
i resoldered some of my modifier switches for lubing. On this occasion i also properly reseated them on the plate - the switches were sitting on the solder joints, not entirely flush on the plate. Now there's a lot less pinging coming from that direction.
