Title: KBC Poker discontinued?
Post by: vatin on Fri, 01 March 2013, 09:12:29
Where do people buy their KBC Poker?
I live in Asia and tried to get mine through buyfromtaobao who responded it was out of the vendor's stock and therefore offer a refund.  I look through taobao listings and it was indeed become rarer. Is this silence meaning the next big thing is coming such as the new poker? (poker pro, poker II).

They will more than likely come out with a new poker, but you can still find them in the classifieds.

There's a good bit of discussion in this thread (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=37444.0) regarding the new Vortex boards.

It's my understanding that the new model Pokers could be coming out this month.

It would be uber cool if Geekhack.org had its own online store and sold kits from it.

I was at MechanicalKeyboards today and they said they found 1 more MX-Black with ABS key caps. It's not on their site yet, but I imagine it will be soon.

^ this

if the community can get the cases figured out for it and have the group buy be smooth (or some other distribution method) then really there is no need for the Poker, Poker Successor, Pure, or Pure Pro (ugh why do any of you even want that Pure Pro ugh).
though Poker, Pure, Pure Pro (assumable) much more affordable. (edit: and doesnt require assembly LOL)

GH60 is DIY keyboard, most pleople like me dont even know how to sold switch.
GH60 is adressed toward a minority of people.
Poker / Pure, buy it, open package and use it, as simple as fast

Good points, but also bear in mind that there will be an assembly service offered for the GH60 as well, so you don't have to know how to solder. However, you DO have to know how to be patient.  :))

I have the Poker, Pure and the Race and they are all good boards. If you like the idea of getting custom key caps, I say go for the Poker, but if you like backlit OEM profile keys, then go for the Pure. The Pure is a great board.

I would expect to see a fair number of Pokers to show up in the classifieds as the GH60 group buy gets going and especially when it ships.
