Title: Keyboards Spazzing out, HHKB Pro 2 and IBM Model F AT
Post by: ironman31 on Fri, 01 March 2013, 22:42:14
I quickly glanced around google to see if I could find the solution, but I figured I would ask here. Ever since I rebuilt my computer I have not been able to use my HHKB and Model PC AT (using the blue cube). When I plug one of them in, things start freaking out on the screen, applications open up, basically like all the keys on the keyboard are being pressed at once.

I have narrowed it down to a problem with my computer. Both keyboards work with my mac and another Windows 7 machine I have. I'm trying to mess around with the drivers but I am not able to do anything when I have the keyboard plugged in.

Does anyone know what this could be? I feel like it might have something to do with the drivers of these abnormal keyboards not being install properly, but how can I mend this?

Did you do a fresh install? And you are plugging the IBM as ps2 and then connecting it when the computer is on?

No, like I mentioned, I am using the blue cube. And I have not done a fresh install. That would be my last option.

Try a powered hub.

Well you can try to diagnose if it is a software problem. Try a linux liveCD and see if the keyboard works normally.

Well its definitely a problem with either windows or my machine, because it works on my mac and my other windows 7 laptop. They only thing I could think of is something might not be working correctly since I kept the same Windows install from a previous motherboard. Basically upgraded everything but my SSD. I'll probably just reinstall this weekend

Found what the problem was, but don't know where its coming from.
I realized that the only devices acting funny were ones with capacitive touch screens, touch pads, or switches. My Realforce didn't have the problem until last night and it acted as though the windows key was always pressed. There is definitely some interference in the room I use  since all of these devices work when plugged up outside the room.
My guess is the cable, but we'll see.
