Title: FS: old boards I don't need/want
Post by: N8N on Sat, 02 March 2013, 11:06:47
EVERYTHING IS BEST OFFER PLUS SHIPPING

make me an offer, it's gonna have to go in the trash if nobody takes it.

1) SGI "granite" 041-0136-001 THIS IS NOT A PS/2 BOARD and will not work on a PC!  But it has dampened Alps and dye sub keycaps.  This is a 102-key board.  Case and space bar show some decent amount of yellow but the caps actually look nice.  I'd thought about trying to do something with this but found a working PS/2 Granite in better shape instead.

2) Cherry G80-8200 LPBUS w/ browns "Rawko board" - working condition, was my switch tester board, all switches have been disassembled and lubed with dry teflon spray lube.  Decent-ish lasered keycaps w/ relegendables.

3) Dell AT101W beige, pretty crappy really.  But if you really like Alps you could use the switches from the SGI board.  Not sure how you'd deal with the bottom row though.  Could be free if you buy something else.

4) 2x G81-8000HPBUS.  This has MY's looks like a rawko board but without the relegendable/programmable keys.  One has great cond. black doubleshots one has shiny black doubleshots.  Shiny board is missing two sliders because I needed them for a gluing jig but I have the caps.

Can take pics later, still cleaning up my stuff.  May post some keycap sets later as well as I've pretty well settled on the boards I'm using.

I'm located in VA

Is there something wrong with the AT101W? Or do you just not like it?

What kind of interface does the SGI use?

It's old, crunchy, and yellow.  Really I wouldn't ask more than $5 plus shipping for it, but if you wanted to paint/dye and like alps and don't mind cleaning/lubing, it might make a fun project.  I bought it ages ago when I was sampling all the keyboards that I remembered as being halfway decent from ages past and I realized that undampened Alps weren't what I was looking for.  Lately I've been switching between SGI Granite and my custom Filco and occasionally a WYSE with the "mighty Cherry blacks."  Gonna keep a couple other boards but I have so much stuff it's stupid.

It's an interface proprietary to SGI, uses a PS/2 cable but doesn't speak PS/2.  I screwed up and bought it thinking it was actually PS/2 but it wasn't.  Don't think that there is an adapter for it that would make it work with anything modern.
