hi, i heard some unconfirm rumour that, filco would have price cut around 20% across most if not all models/switches, to compete with other newer brand like cm storm.
-
Really...............................thats good news then because filcos have the best quality by far.
-
PING
-
bout time...
Ripping people off for "too long"

Is a filco blue $85 better than the QFR
That's the problem,, no matter how you slice it, FILCO is a rip off...
-
And where did this hearsay come from?
-
one of the filco distributor
-
Good thing I just bought another Filco yesterday. :-S
-
Sweet. I might pick up an ANSI Minila when/if this happens.
-
Time to buy another one then.
-
HASBAZ said it all

LOL, with new CM XT and new WASD V2 coming out pretty soon, guess what I wiull be getting..... CM XT with greens and hopefully WASD V2 with clears.... Makes you wonder the classifieds are full with people sellinjg their filcos....
-
Too little, too late. The Filco has been absurdly priced since the beginning -- and only now they're supposedly cutting the price by 20%? Pffft... I rather buy TWO QFRs for the price of a Filco.
-
This would be awesome if I didn't want to sell my Filco TKL in a few weeks!
-
Man, I just bought a second Filco less than a month ago >:D
But I can not say this really surprises me. I like love my Filcos, but they are too expensive. Especially considering that I really do not like their stock keycaps. For the price I feel they could do better than ABS that develops shine within weeks and an ugly inconsistent print.
I had a chance to use the Cooler Master Quickfire Storm Rapid, which is tenkeyless and looks similar to the Filcos TKL. While I would like to say that Filco was clearly the better keyboard, I had a hard time spotting the differences. Now that Cooler Master is coming out with even more similar competitively priced boards, like the Stealth (that do not have that silly branding) I think anyone would have to take a long hard look at them before they spend 50% extra or more on a Filco.
One reason for me to go with Filco is that I would have to import from overseas if I wanted the QFR in brown switches and the layout I prefer. This brings the prices a lot closer when using some of the safer shipping options. Then there is also the risk of having to pay an extra 19% BTW (VAT) when importing from outside of the EU, and having my package stuck in customs for 2 weeks.

I hear ya, I sold my first one here a while ago and I am trying to sell my last one now. I love filco, but I originally bought blue switches for both of them and later found out I like cherry mx browns and reds better. Not sure if I would say they are overpriced as the build quality on my filco is definitely better then my leopold ( can't comment of the build quality of CM quickfire).

What prices have you guys been paying for Filcos? List is $150 at my local NCIX and I asked for a discount and got it for $99, so I'd say some of the responsibility is in the hands of retailers.

I don't think its too little, too late. If this is true, I'll definitely be picking up at least 1 more Filco in the future.

You can get a discount from NCIX because it's NCIX Canada and you can actually bargain with them... retailers here don't bargain.
-
Still, even $99 is pretty stiff considering the Ducky 2108 at $85 or so delivered, and how cheap the Rosewill 9000 gets shoved out the door at times.
-
I guess with all the new companies making mechanical keyboards, now they realize it's getting harder to compete at that price point.
That and CM Storm is just killing it. Really looking forward to the new QuickFire XT.

Lol after seeing the title I instantly though of this:
"Majestouch and Realforce without just price
They are businessmen from Japan. They make sudden huge
profits by hook or by crook."
:))
-
Oh man, a bigger Topre price reduction would be hell on my wallet.

I disagree.

I had the exact same thought! lol

i think NCIX canada capable to discount from $150 to $99 , which is around 30% , becoz they are one of the filco distributor, while filco retailer earn only about <15% per mechanical keyboard they sell.
-
even with the price cuts.. you can still pick up 2 QFR on sale
-
just wait for elitekeyboards to get fc700r's and filco will be a thing of the past

God only knows how long we'll be waiting...

I did just that. Loved my Filco and it is a good board, but I sold it and bought 2 CFR's.
-
Wow, going to be tough for me to decide on which to get now; QFR or filco tkl. The possibilities.

SoonTM :P

i got my majestouch tkl before there was anything available stateside besides it and the das, and i'm pretty sure i'm going to have it forever. if the build quality of the QFR isn't better than the das, i can't imagine choosing it over the filco. i can't comment on topre boards, pokers, etc.
i don't really need several keyboards in multiple locations, though.

And where did this hearsay come from?
one of the filco distributor
What country are you from? There are not that many distributors in the US. Only NCIX and KeyboardCo via Amazon. So it must be one of these guys if you're from the US.
just wait for elitekeyboards to get fc700r's and filco will be a thing of the past
EK made a clear statement they will not be carrying the new FC700 leopolds.

EK made a clear statement they will not be carrying the new FC700 leopolds.
More specifically EK initially said no because of QC concerns; then several months later said no again because of supply concerns (they already went through this with Filco.) Is supply still an issue? I don't know - but there are two companies in Australia that import the FC700R.
Maybe EK will just drop the Leopold brand - it's not like they need them - they could focus on Topre stuff; and the competition is just too cut throat when you can walk into most computer stores and pick up a Coolermaster for around 70 bucks.
Regarding a discount on Filco keyboards: I don't buy it. If Amazon/NCIX is any gauge they are selling every keyboard they can make - why would they give a discount?
-
I give up waiting on anything from Elitekeyboards. I just move on b/c I never know when they will get it in.

When it comes to keyboards you shouldn't wait for anything ... Buy and if something new that you want is released, sell your previous purchase. Consider the $30-40 loss a rental fee. lol
-
Yawn, Leopold still cheaper ;)
