Title: Wishful Thinking and Fingers Crossed
Post by: jcrouse on Fri, 08 March 2013, 21:49:36
Well, tomorrow I am traveling three hours to visit a co-worker at his farm. He claims he has a box of about 50 "old keyboards", some with AT connectors and curly cables. He has been in IT for 30 years so I am hoping this turns out to be a worthwhile trip. More to come ....

I hope you find an SSK or a Model M you'd be willing to sell to me! :P  Seriously though, if you find anything good, take some pics.

I hope you find more nice keyboards than you know what to do with, and feel like selling some here. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for an 1800.

You're probably going to get that treasure chest of keyboards, not visiting your co-worker  ^-^

Ahhh YES, the very BEST Cherry keyboard's ever made.  Make sure you get some.  Although getting specific key-sets (recent Group Buys here) to cover the whole keyboard can be problematic.

LOL.  A friend of mine did something similar once and came across a fair condition 1972 BMW 2002 tii sitting in a barn, which he bought on the spot.  http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/86/1972_BMW_2002_NY.jpg&imgrefurl=http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1972_BMW_2002_NY.jpg&h=1608&w=2512&sz=201&tbnid=NMFZGYsdushdDM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=141&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dbmw%2B2002%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=bmw+2002&usg=__GGKaKqN3i8Pdb9MCJMwofEZ1OOE=&docid=a68IZK4OQveOMM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=G_87Uf6hAcb-0gGcz4CgCg&sqi=2&ved=0CD8Q9QEwAg&dur=52.  (car in picture is just an example, and is not the actual car my friend bought.)

So keep your eyes open!

Lucky guy! It's uncommon you have a barn full of cats that aren't sleeping on the corvertible tops all day.

I speculate a huge cache of IBM 1387033's or beam spring.

He never came back from the farm!

My dog went to "the farm" when I was a little kid... at least that is what my parents told me.

When I arrived he just got home from his farm, secondary residence. He had been putting up fencing all day and did not want to drive 45 minutes to go back again. He brought 5 home in the trunk of his car. There are a couple of old ones with white alps switches and a couple of PS2 membranes. I brought one of the alps home. It is in nice shape but I am guessing not worth much. Now I have to go back down in a few weeks.

So, here is one of the boards. The switches seem to be white alps. Or at least they are alps and are white in color. I really have no clue. I do know that this one is in great shape and the keycaps are like new. What the hell is something like this even worth, if anything (I know, there is a thread for that :))

The FCC-ID is for NMB (1989): must be the OEM.

I don't know what ALPS are worth. Looks to be in excellent shape, though. Are those doubleshots?

Yeah, that Alps board looks like it's in mint condition, from your pic.  Somebody who likes Alps will snap it up, I'm sure.

That really depends. Are they double shot or possibly dye sub?
Oh and I didn't post here before but to be honest....

They are not doubleshots.
