Submitted....hope you choose me....I'll send the board back with cookies!
-
NO BRIBING~!!
ok ok lots of bribing allowed :D
-
note that these boards look outwardly like SSKs. they DON'T use any new fancy kind of case. they use vintage cases in various status of (dis)repair.
also, at the end of the test i may have you send the board back to me for a final rebuild based on the final production specifications.
in general, i expect you to pay your half of shipping when this happens.
basically this is a collaborative testing process that you're helping to pay for, not a purchase of a vintage ssk.
-
Hehe, nice signup :) I can't promise to use it exclusively >.< I'm out
-
yah, i really need testers to use their boards pretty extensively. ideally, you break yours like boost did and i find a fun bug to fix
fun fact: i had to completely rebuild boost's board with a new vinyl mat and membrane because of a stupid mistake i made during construction :D
also his keys were really gross. must be all that kpop he listens to

I didn't read the fine print - I thought we were doing testing for free for the benefit of the project.
I'm OUT. SORRY :(

FAQ:
Q: why am i charging for this?
A: because i have thousands of dollars into this project and i literally cannot afford to continue it without a capital injection. because it costs real money and time for me to make these things and buy parts and experiment with building assemblies up. because just the tooling for constructing these cost several hundred dollars. because just obtaining the vintage plastic cases costs more than a hundred dollars per case. because prototyping new case designs is going to cost more than a hundred for each prototype, not to mention the opportunity cost in time spent. i am far from a wealthy person, but i started this project because i believe that buckling springs are the best switch, period, and i want to do my part to bring them back into the mainstream. by testing, you're volunteering your time and money to be part of this project too. obviously, if you don't give a flying monkey about buckling springs, don't bother. but unfortunately i've reached a point where i and the other people involved can't carry the entire burden of the project ourselves.

It looks like an ssk. Nothing fancy about the case just the internals are epic :P
I'll look for the pic if my ssk

Wait - did I miss something? I have not been following this very closely because I am a heavy numpad user.
"Internals are epic" - Are these Model M revivals or "Model F" SSKs? Now THAT would be something to get seriously excited about!
-
model M ssk revivals. brand new parts (except for the vintage cases which will have to do until we get a new design finalized). same as always stated in the project thread.
i'm torquing down the last board. i'll take a pic of all the boards together after i finish :)

i'd love to hand out more but that exhausts the cases that i have.. if people have cases they'd be willing to part with, i will take them in a heartbeat.

So we're paying for these to test them? Or am I misunderstanding?

You're paying to own it but testing them at the same time.
-
^Ah, okay. It's a shame I don't have the money right now or I'd be in.

I think we all understand this. I'll be doing the same/same decision with the GH60 case I have planned
BTW if I didn't already have and SSK, I'd be one of the first to be testing bro :P
-
sorry, it is a bit confusing. you're paying to buy into the project both in time and money. in the end, you'll get a revived ssk, in the meantime i need people to hammer on the springs of prototypes.
-
last one's gone
-
Indeed. I hope everyone who got one enjoys hammering it.
-
if not, i'm going to rebuild and refine until they do ;)
thanks all for your participation, even passive!
-
I will eventually grab one, even if I have to wait until final production. I'm sitting here, clacking away on my Model M and it's just so satisfying. I worry what people in the office are thinking, but not enough to stop...

that's pretty selfish of you, you should be ashamed of yourself.

When in an office, it's every man/woman for themselves!

Cheers,

Well, I wouldn't say I worry, per se. I think about what they may be thinking, but I'm apathetic to it. So nope, no shame here. CLACKCLACKCLACKCLACK

i just want to point out that we have a user named TheUltrazord browsing this thread, and that precarious has a sweet ultrazord avatar.
i guess what i'm saying is that the power rangers were cool. that's all.

Are you saying they're not still cool? How dare you, sir. How dare you.

THEY STILL EXIST?!?!?

There are literally dozens of iterations. DOZENS OF THEM!

Oh, and they all suck aside from the originals.
