Title: Topre~Alps Observation
Post by: AKIMbO on Tue, 12 March 2013, 10:39:57
I observed the most peculiar peculiarity today.

When switching from ALPs to Topre...the switch is much more natural and the Topre switch feels sublime instantly.  However, when switching from Cherry MX to Topre, the switch takes a long time to get used to (nearly half a day for me) and the Topre switch feels horrid for the first half of the day.  I believe it has to do with ALPs and Topres having all their weighting at the top of the switch, whereas Cherry has all of its weighting in the middle of the switch.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Not here. Topre has always felt sublime whenever I come back from a different switch.

I switch back and worth daily. Cherry at home, Topre at work. I think it probably has to do with how light 30g Topre is compared to Cherry, but it always takes me a few minutes to adjust before I stop bottoming out on the Topre. And then it starts to feel sublime. I can't speak for how switching to 45g or 55g would feel like.

I often switch between filco cherry brown and silent variable 87u. Never have this problem. Both are an absolute pleasure to use. My filco has the red o-ring mod from WASDKeyboards though.

Sublime is such a great word to describe Topre ;)

I only switch between two switch types - 45g Topre (HHKB) and 55g Topre (RF) :D
