Title: Tipro Switch Try

It started life as a nasty used Tipro I bought to harvest a load of switches from...

After a good clean, sand and spray paint (including the plate) it now lives on my desk and serves as a place for my (ever increasing) collection of novelty keycaps :D

Without caps it makes them look huge, but they don't seem so big irl unless its just me.

Size wise it's shorter but deeper than a Filco TKL (if that makes sense.) Even with the pcb taken out it still weighs a ton... Mine did have the credit card swipe on the side - once you take the back of each off the swipe just slides off - it leaves a big gap in the right hand side of the board but you can take the side off the swipe and then use that as the new right hand side of the board :D

I don't know if it's true for FREE modules, but the old MID modules are workable for this. You just have to take the bottom of the case off of both sides, remove the plastic piece that joins them together, and move the endpiece from the card reader to the now-empty side of the keyboard module. It's pretty simple if you just look at it.

Again, I don't know if this applies to the newer FREE modules, so someone else might have to verify if it's the same.

Maybe I should have read the switch thread some more, but I got busy modifying my GH60.

Do you actually want to use it as a keyboard? If so, then you'll need a 32 bit system like XP to program it if the keyboard is PS2 based. If you only have access to a 64 bit OS, then you'll need a USB based Tipro.

If it's just for display, SP has some mounting system for displaying caps

This is the one I bought but as The_Beast has said it's PS2 not USB. I've not actually put the PCB back in as 1) I wanted the ability to remove switches easily and 2) I couldn't be a***d! :p

PS2 = 32bit and never a 64bit
USB = 64bit (I assume 32bit as well, but couldn't try)

MX Vintage Black (?) Incorrect :( - Ghetto reds

As above - BlueBär nailed it (almost...) - I got most of them through 7bit but the greens and blacks through classifieds / harvesting them

The last 3 rows are just blacks - I couldn't come up with 16 varieties of switches so I thought that 13 would have to do!
