i've got one of those at home, it's a rubber dome keyboard, but unlike a lot of cheap keyboards the back plate is curved like a model m's.

Yep, rubber dome cosmetic-clone Keytronics.  Note how the LED panel is just a little too short.  I believe these were the basis of the Das I.

I recall seeing one a while back with an old Compaq logo on; the first glance suggestion of IBM licensing the design to Compaq back in the late eighties took me aback for a moment, I'll say.

Once I bought one of these on ebay because it looked like it could be a Model M under a different brand ... you can imagine how disapponted I was when I got it :-)

Exactly. But I was prevented from making the same mistake again because of its rather steep price :-)

they have those at the UC Berkeley library... they really aren't that bad, probably the best rubber dome keys I've used.
