Title: [IC] Nyan Cat set
Post by: gnubag on Wed, 20 March 2013, 20:52:50: I have seen lots of posts regarding Nyan Cat sets.
So since the last GB was almost a year ago, how about we start a new one? link to the old one (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=31224.0)

I will create a poll soon for you to sign in, so I/we can contact the people who have started them before.

Be nice if we could get other colors, i heard in another thread that dyesub designs can be made with opaque dyes that show up on darker materials. a set of grey or black would be great, or navy blue with the stars!

i think thick pbt is the best choice since they are beast and it would be a step up to the last GBs.

i am looking for somebody to has the connections to get them going.
was looking at ragnorok (since he made the first gb as far as i know), but with the delay on the ZOMG keycaps I did not wan't to stress him more, so I will contact him after that gb is done and discuss what keycap options are viable.

if somebody else wants to take ne nyan cat gb in his/her hands now, do it. :)

As I didn't create the art or suggest the original idea, I had no claim to it and let them do as they pleased. However, keyboardstory.com is now gone and I think Originative is in its place. Your best bet would be to see whether those guys want to do another run of it because I have no interest in competing with them over a product that I'm sure they consider theirs more than I do.

If they say they have no interest in running another set and want me to do it, I'd happily do so though, so feel free to send me a PM if that's the case. I just graduated last weekend and am on summer break, so either I get hot on running group buys or I have to get a summer job. (Going back to grad school this fall.)

decently visible dyesub is not possible on black caps, its like using markers on black paper. You'd need either multi-shot caps (not possible for THAT many shots right now), or pad printing/laser infill.

Black would only work with something like Qwerkey's UV printing. Dyesub wouldn't work.

That technique is pad printing, and is possible. However, the Enthusiast community tends to shun that method because it wears off VERY quickly. Dyesub is impregnated deeper into the keycap, making it last a significantly longer time.
