Title: Anybody know of a cheap, compact MX Black board?
Post by: deazncy on Thu, 21 March 2013, 02:57:21
I've really been wanting to buy an mx black kb for my gaming needs, but can't really spend more than ~$60-65 including shipping. I've looked at the HPE and Noppoo boards, but $20 for shipping is a bit much. Anyone know of a 70-75% mech with mx black switches for cheap? Thanks.

Not exactly what you are asking for, but these are pretty good:

You should be able to get a TG3 BL82 in that budget. It's compact and uses MX Black. Nice quality, too; lack of rollover is probably the main disadvantage if you're going to be gaming.

Well, mx cherry and compact and cheap do not go well together, depending of what you consider cheap for a keyboard, of course. I suggest to take a look at ebay using cherry keyboard and see what is available, I hope you find something you may like.

Thanks for the replies, I've already looked at the TG3 BL82, but the 2kro was the reason why I haven't already bought it.

Mechanicalkeyboards.com is restocking a few MX black Pures soon after next week. Less than $100 USD.

I'm about to put up some of my kbs and caps for trade/auction.  I have a TG3 BL82 mentioned above I'd part with for around 50$ shipped.
edit - condition is new - I removed the annoying plastic under the keys which ruined the mx black switch feel and replaced the keycaps.  I'll get pics up if you want.

I was looking at the Pures, but it's still pretty expensive at $97.50 + Shipping.

@Whiteduck - Thanks, but like I said, the 2kro won't work since I'm mainly buying this keyboard for gaming.

I really like PLU ML-87's. Should be pretty cheap and a little better quality than HPE.

My GF and I both use the CMStorm-QFRapid and I find it to be lovely for gaming and typing on (I do a lot of e-mails as well as playing games). I tried a range of keyboards out at a LAN I went to here in the UK about 6-8 months back and out of all of them, this one was by far the most comfy to use and also compact too!

I would say it is probably good for what you are looking for but then I do think you have to try them out before you buy (Personal opinion).

I could be wrong (Correct me if I am) but the region that you are in dictates what is available to you (I bought mine from the stand at the previously mentioned LAN so I'm not too sure) but I would highly recommend the MXBlack as they do feel the better ones (For me at least) in terms of gaming, I tried my friend's keyboards and they have a variety of different switches and I'm glad with what I got (A couple of them even decided to take their MXBlues and MXreds into work and order a MXBlack for home!)

I bought 3 in total in the same purchase and even my GF (Who doesn't play anything apart from SC2 and browse imgur) says that it is a really nice keyboard.

Hope that helps a bit :)
