Hello GeekHackers,
Once again I am looking for more information on a small keyboard part. This time Screws. What size are the screws for the GH60/Poker PCBs that we use to attach the PCB to the case? And what about the O-Ring Washer that fits the screw? Does anyone know where we can order these?
With the GH60 Group Buy started I seriously doubt I am the only one that is interested in these little guys. I would love to find these on amazon.
Keep it Wu-Tang and keep clackin.

You need a M2 x 4mm+ screw. 4mm is the length of the screw. I have 5mm length in my poker/cnc. But I think 4mm should work too. (Im pretty sure the length is measured in mm...)
You can find them on amazon, they are expensive.
I found a local warehouse that hooked me up with the proper wrench and about 10 screws for free.
This is my local warehouse's website: http://www.mrmetric.com/metric-fasteners/metric-socket-screws-ssa2-m2-x-4/

Now me (I hope it's alright I jump in here; this can be a general question thread re: screws). What nuts/bolts does the litster acrylic case use? Maybe I can find some different color ones!

M3 - 0.5 seems to be the standard in custom cases.
-
What in that determines the length? Or is that separate? I know there are two different lengths.
-
ex: M3 x .4
.4 would be length in MM i think... I could be wrong about the units.

M3 is the major diameter, the - 0.5 is the thread pitch and the last part should be the length.
So a M12 - 0.6 x 30mm would be a 12mm major diameter bolt, 0.6 thread pitch and 30mm long (overall length depends on head type)
Everything on a metric bolt will be mm, a 10mm bolt will never be called out as a 1cm bolt

Length depends on the head type. Some are measured as the total length end to end (like bolts that counter sink) while others are measured from the end of the bolt to under the head (like a cap head machine screw)

do we know the size of the Gh60 PCB screws yet? is it going to be the same as the poker? ''M2 x 4 mm Screw"? getting a lot of results on amazon.

I highly doubt that the screws needed to attach the PCB to standoff is an M2
I thin they're a #32, JD should know since he's order some

I originally ordered #2-56 x 5/32, but those are slightly too big. M2 x 4mm is correct. The pan head machine screws I ordered from McMaster-Carr work great without a washer.

so i should be looking to buy M2 x 4mm? and those would be the screws for cases? (specifically WFD's case)

OK so JD ruled on this. M2x4mm is what we want for GH60s and Pokers.
I found some on Amazon. But as stated above they are expensive and have limited stock.

I would really like to find a source that has a large cheap supply of these little bastards so we can assist our GeekHackin brothers (and possibly a few sisters out there).
JD in case you havent noticed I take your input as the word of Yahweh. That says a lot since I am an atheist with a degree in Religious Studies.

can someone verify that these are the screws we need?
is this something we can pick up at home depot or is this only available online? (pardon my noobiness)

Why the hell would you want an hex head machine screw meant for countersunk holes?

OK Update. Here is what I found:
So here are the screws:
http://www.amazon.com/DrillSpot-M2x4-7985-Phillips-MachScrew/dp/B00A9A0MV8/ref=sr_1_2?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1364247714&sr=1-2&keywords=%22m2x4%22
Here are the washers:
http://www.amazon.com/DrillSpot-Stainless-Steel-Flat-Washer/dp/B00A9A1N8Y/ref=sr_1_4?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1364247912&sr=1-4&keywords=m2+washer
not sure about pitch of the screws etc. Here is 100 for 8 bucks. This puts the screws at 4 cents each. Not bad. However, I am not 100% that these are what we want/need.
I would think finding these at the local Home Depot is a no go. They have failed me when I've looked for electronic parts in the past. They like big ****.

Here is the part number for McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com): 92000A011
$5.33/100 pack
Thread pitch is 0.4mm.
If you want to order from Amazon, these appear to be the same (also in packs of 100), for $4.80 and are Prime eligible.

Thanks for the amazon prime link!

going to order one set from the amazon link for the gh60 and the WFD case :D

Not to sound like a know it all about this bolt issue but I see people planning ahead or making comments like, "i'm going to order these for the gh60 ...". The gh60 is the pcb and plate. It really has nothing to do with the screw size. You will need to know which case you are ordering and what the mfg. is going to tap the holes. As JDC knows, iMavs poker cases were ansi threads, 2-56. It would be nice maybe if all the people in this thread that are making cases agree on a standard size.

Exactly. I can tell you which screws were used in Poker cases, etc., but I cannot speak to which sizes will be used in upcoming case designs. It would make a lot of sense to standardize on this now.

... and like it or not, ansi, probably #2-56, makes the most sense for the probably majority of purchasers.

You sound like you know a thing or two about manufacturing... (heh, Chicago meet joke)

At least try to standardize per case. That doesn't even mean keeping everything M2 or M3 for every fastener in the case. Just keeping everything metric is a big step in the right direction. Sometimes, it will be better to use an M2 over an M4 and vice versa, so I can fully understand different size bolts. Even head styles make a big difference. A M3 cap head screw may work for 80% of the case, but sometimes, you just need a M3 pan head and there's no way around it.
What sucks is some fasteners being metric and some being UNF....
Then again, if you're buying a custom case, it really should come with all the hardware necessary for assembly
