Title: Fixing pinging brown switch?
Post by: frowni on Mon, 25 March 2013, 19:30:52
Hey there,

I just made a quick text with my new Filco majestouch 2 cherry browns, some of they keys are pinging..i can notice that the board itself pings a bit, thats ok, since its metal and all, but there are certains keys(V, Y and U) pings! I removed the keycaps, pressed&released the switches, and they ping like bells :) Like a spring sound...Is there a way to fix it?
Is there a possibility that it might go away once i break them in?

Here we go again... ping!

No, there's nothing you can really do about it.

Learn to love it!

Think of it as assurance you're typing on such a solid board that the sound vibrations of the springs carry right through it. No vibrations being absorbed by crappy soldering or bad switch mounting  ;)

(Just go with it guys)

Will do that :) So it doesn't go away by itself right... :)

pinging! woohoo. I tend to wear headphones so I don't hear it but I don't find it annoying at all. Its also very odd for me, I initially owned a Das with brown switches and the H key began to ping.. changed to a Filco with blacks and just recently the H on this one's beginning to ping.

Coincidence? I'm not sure if its how I type that's causing it either. I'll have a third sample to the test once Keycool and Qtan get the production lines back in order and pickup a board for work...

Even then, I don't get pinging unless I really hammer down on the keys and bottom out like mad (picked up the blacks because they're helping NOT bottom out).
